Hardbar camera mount

Finally found the time to install the HardBar brace and camera mount I bought a little while back. Finding the right tools caused some delay. First off, I didn't have the T-47 Torx bit to remove the old seat belt bolts. Then I found that the threaded hole in the frame didn't want to accept the new bolts for the bar. Talked to the people that make the HardBar and they said it was probably some glue in the threads that needed to be tapped out. So I went out and bought a metric tap and die set. Re-tapping the threads did the trick. The old seat belts then mount onto the bar itself, so you don't lose the use of the seat belts.

I used an electronic level for the camera mount so it is dead on level. Or at least as level as the ground the car is now setting on. Have to take it for a spin soon to see how well it works. Wish the camera had a remove viewing screen so I could actually see what the camera sees while driving. Not really keen on trying to turn my head to see the viewfinder while driving....

Looks sweet Rich. Did it come with the cover around the bar or did you put that on too?
Mine didn't, mine came naked.

No, there is no cover on the bar. It's coated with some sort of black anodizing. It's solid aluminum, if I remember correctly. Feels solid as a ROCK!

Just went for a ride and took some videos, but haven't looked at it yet. I'm curious about the audio, and how much cabin noise is going to be evident. I have an external microphone for the camera, so I may be able to locate it to get the best turbo spool up "music".... :hehehe:

Can't wait till you post some vides up Rich. I want to hear that bad chicken scream.:dancer01: Use your remote for zooming in and out..

Yeah, I thought so too about the zooming, but it really doesn't work too well if I can't see what is being taped. If I do the wide angle, it catches too much of the dash and mirror. I guess I could do a quick glance at the screen while I am driving, but two reasons why I am reluctant to do so..
(1) Using the screen display eats up the battery pretty quickly.
(2) Probably a good way to wind up wrapped around a telephone pole.

Hmm, wonder if I could position a mirror so I could see the display without taking my eyes off the road? :thinkin:

I think my getting the twin turbos pretty much removed that doubt from anyone's mind...... :lmao:
