We got 0.55" of rain this morning. Thought we would get more, but heck this time of year any rain is certainly welcomed. I just wish it would rain hard enough to pummel and drown the damned yellow flies.

1.43" of rain today. Had a few sprinkles over the last few days, but nothing worth making note of.

The corn fields up here in Georgia are loving it! 3.25 inches since Wednesday.

Yeah, I'm glad I don't have to be running around watering the fruit trees. With the yellow flies and other more serious things on my mind, it would be a bit much right now.

Thinking about a mini split system.

Since (I assume) you already have ductwork wouldn't just replacing the existing system be less expensive? I just replaced the upstairs system on my house along with new ductwork to the tune of nearly $14K.

I had both downstairs units replaced (outside units and inside air handlers) for $12K for both but the guy that did the lower floor units retired before I could get him to do the upstairs. And being up here in the boonies of southwest Georgia there's not a plethora of choices when it comes to A/C installers but I will say that both companies did an excellent job. Spent another $24K on all new windows so I'm sure that had a bearing on the low electric bill too as the old windows were the originals from 1970. Huge difference!

Gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised but the electric bill has not hit $200 yet and this house is 4600+ sq/ft. Curious what July and August bills will be like.

I probably need to replace the windows in our house sometime soon, since ours our 30+ years old now. Just hope I could find someone to do it that wouldn't tear up something else in the process. It seems to be a law down here that nearly everyone follows.
