Looked like we were going to have a good rainstorm passing through here, but, man, what a let down. Forecast was calling for rain for a few days. That all went away and we got a measly 0.10" today.
They are calling for some beginning on Wednesday, but I sure wouldn't be holding my breath for it. So watering plants I will be. Which is pretty depressing when watering all those cold damaged citrus trees. A couple of the satsumas have new growth coming out right above the graft, so I don't have high hopes for them. Likely the rest of the graft is dead, and more than likely it is just root stock that is producing the new growth.
Even some that were putting out some new growth and looking like they might make a comeback have most of those leaves turning yellow and dying off.
I get so angry at all the time and effort Connie and I put into planting and taking care of those trees just to have them wiped out over Christmas. But what are you going to do?
I guess just pull out the chainsaw so I don't have to look at the denuded branches all of the time.
