President’s Message:
Just a note to thank all who were at the meeting on Tuesday. The diet contest turned out great; I was treated to dinner as Bill took third place. I totally enjoyed my Double Cheeseburger off of the dollar menu on the way home. (Bill also admitted that his weight loss was due to having an eight pound cataract removed from his right eye.) Congratulations to Ron and Elaine Rupp who didn’t have to have surgery to win first and second place respectively.

Glenn Hutchinson was our guest speaker. Glenn is the Regional Representative of the NCCC and the President of the Corvettes of Naples. He welcomed all of us to join their Club in future events. And we thank him for joining us.

We have developed two new chair positions for the SWFL Corvette Club, and we thank Armando Sampedro and Linda Duschl for accepting to fill these chairmanships.

I have just a few more words that you might find interesting:

Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given
their new wives duties.

The first man had married a woman from Ohio, and bragged that
he had told his wife she was going to do all the dishes and house-cleaning that needed to be done at their house, and to clean the wheels of his Corvette. He said that it took a couple days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were all washed and put away, but the Corvette had not been touched.

The second man had married a woman from the East Coast. He bragged that
he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the cooking, and make sure that the windows on his Corvette were spotless. He told them that the first day he didn't see any results, but the next day it was better. By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table, but the Corvette had not been touched.

The third man had married a Wisconsin girl. He boasted that he
told her that her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed,
lawn mowed, laundry washed and hot meals on the table for every meal and keep her hands off his Corvette. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn’t see anything, but by the third day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye. Enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the dishwasher, and telephone a landscaper and refill the gas tank on the Corvette.

Got to love those Wisconsin girls!!

Judy Galewski

(BTW…..I’m from Wisconsin.)

Meeting Minutes for March 20, 2007

The meeting was called to order by
Judy Galewski at 7:03 PM.

Judy welcomed our special guest -
Glenn Hutchinson, the Regional Executive of the NCCC and asked him to say a few words.

Glenn’s goal is to attend the meetings of all the NCCC clubs over the next two years.

At the first regional meeting for the NCCC,
Glenn spoke about The Future Corvette Owners Group that has been created for children from Birth to age 15. The cost is a one-time charge of $5.00 per child. This is a great way to introduce the next generation to the Corvette experience.

Also, there is a scholarship available for your children for $750 from the NCCC. More information is available on the Web site.

Glenn also indicated that we were invited to all Corvettes of Naples events and we can go on their dinner cruises.

Corvettes of Naples meet on the first Thursday of the Month – 7:30 PM at the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church

Glenn made a request that if the Club does not use their sanctions, to turn them in and the club will receive credit for the event when used by another club.

Judy asked if there were any corrections to last month’s newsletter – a motion was made that February’s newsletter stands approved as circulated.

Sue Burch read our current expenses and balance. If anyone would like a copy of the report, please contact Sue.

Marshall Lieberman announced that we have 56 members and 41 cars.

Bev Dobbins thanked the club for the get-well card and said that her knee did not keep her down.

She mentioned that Glen Hutchinson ran a good meeting and the meeting was completed in one hour.

We were too late to enter the newsletter into the NCCC contest but we have time to enter our Web site.

Bev read the thank you note from Jackie for helping making the Seafood Event a success.

The cars will be leaving at 3-minute intervals
and mileage will count.

Each car will be required to purchase gas twice!!! FUN FUN FUN!!!

At the end of the rally, everyone will be served Brats, condiments, baked beans, potato chips, beer or soda.

If you enjoy driving your Corvette –

I don’t know about the navigator???

Javona was the lucky winner of the 50/50.

The club is happy to announce that there are two new positions, the first one is -

Web Master & Club Photographer
Because of her excellent computer skills and natural eye for photography Linda Duschl was asked to fill this position.
We are pleased she accepted

The second position is –
Public Relations Chairperson
Because of his natural gift of gab, his winning smile and past performance Armando Sampedro was asked to fill this
position. He was smiling when he accepted and so were we.

Thank you both for your hard work and commitment. Your efforts have given us the ability to more readily communicate and be recognized by other clubs and organizations.

Who’s Your Daddy?

A Profile – Harley Earl 1893 – 1969

Often Zora Arbus – Duntov was written as the “Father” of our Corvette. Well then the “Father of the Father” is Harley Earl.

A graduate of Stanford and son of a designer of horse drawn carriages, he was a real car buff. GM hired Earl in 1927 to birth the new Art & Color Section, it’s in house styling department, an industry first

In 1951 he began in earnest the “sports car” foundation – dubbed “Project Opel” as a cover in 1952. (To be continued)

There were no new members this month.

Available – XL Corvette Jacket - silver
Color – cost – free – For more information contact Roger 239-694-1706.

We enjoyed some yummy goodies thanks to Karen Sampedro. We know Karen can really make delicious sweets. Mmmmm
good! Thank you.
