Governor Ron DeSantis Signs HB 543 – Constitutional Carry

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill (HB) 543 which strengthens Floridians’ Second Amendment rights by allowing Floridians to carry concealed weapons without a government-issued permit. HB 543 goes into effect on July 1, 2023, making Florida the 26th state to enact Constitutional Carry legislation.

“Constitutional Carry is in the books,” said Governor Ron DeSantis.

Good for you guys. Georgia did that last year. You can open carry in Georgia with a CC Permit.

I don't believe we have open carry yet.

But aren't we still going to want to get a permit? Won't that be necessary to eliminate the waiting period when making a firearm purchase? And what about reciprocity laws in other states? Won't the FL permit be necessary for that to be recognized when traveling out of state?

You are correct on the above concerns. But at least all upstanding citizens can now legally defend themselves.

I don't know why, but whenever I see a law passed that seems to have obvious benefits to us peons, I can't help but wonder where the hook is..... :dead:

Well, pretty much anything the democrats pass deserves scrutiny. They have become experts at hiding arbitrary things in the bills they pass. As of late though, they're fairly blatant.
