Need new computer....please advise

Zach

New member
I do a lot of graphic design and run a lot of programs at the same time so I am in need of a fast, reliable computer.

What I need:
- 1 GB of ram, preferably more
- 10,000 RPM hard drive

Need to be $1,200 - $1,800

No e-machines or HP please

Any ideas?

Generally when I am looking for a new box I check on Ebay to see what they have there. That gives me an idea of what prices are going for then I contact the seller to see what they will charge for what I REALLY want.

Good luck!

Zach,

I bought a new PC from Dell about 4 months ago and have been very pleased with the unit. It is a E510 desktop, Pentium 4 HT, 2.8 Gig processor, 1 Gig of Ram, Windows XP Media Center, 19 inch flat screen monitor, just to give you a few features. The shipping at that time was free, so it came in under $800. If you go to the Dell website you can pull up one of their specials and make modifications to it and you will see the price immediately.

Not saying it will work for you, but it did for me! I have heard that if you have service issues with Dell you going to be speaking to someone in Bangahladesh or some other god for saken place!

:iagree: with Rich, get a Dell. I've got a loptop and a desktop and they are great. There are some great PCs in that range that are great for graphics, shop around on the dell web site. Good luck. :thumbsup:

Zach;
About a year ago I got the Dell Dimension 5100 very similar to Zach's. I found that by calling Dell and telling them what I was looking for I got one heck of a deal with all kinds of software, etc, etc for about $1400. Also check the Dell site as to what organizations they give discounts to and also check with the orgs you belong to. I got an additional 10% plus some free extras because of my MOAA membership. A little research will save you mucho money and Dell support is excellent. Good luck.:D
