Hi,
I have a couple of questions. I accidentally filled my Vette (95 Conv) with regular gas, will this hurt the engine? I noticed it started running really rough so it is sitting in the garage until I find out. Second question is, once in a while when I put it in reverse and start to let the clutch out it will jump out of gear. Is this the beginning of a serious problem? I appreciate any help with these questions.
Thanks,
Mark

With regards to reg gas, I have read that the computer will compensate for the fuel and performance will suffer. Extended use of Reg is probably not recommended. Try to use up 1/2 tank and fill with premium when you get a chance...

Gotta answer for ya Mark

First and as already mentioned concerning the gas.
The first post reply is pretty correct. Your vettes computer will make the adjustment. IT is designed to preadjust to any octane level with the proper air fuel mixture.
Will it hurt your Corvette, answer , NO. I'd say get some octane booster and clean the injector's out as you may have got some contaminated gas. Some STP or other related injection cleaner to a tank of gas should clear the problem up.
As for the reverse problem, I'd as your dealer to check alighnment with the shifter socket. Mine everyso often jumps out, but more to my neglect to make sure the shifter is totally in gear.
Take it from this ole retired GM Chevrolet enginerr retired, your problem's do not sound to me like thery're too serious.

:iagree::iagree::iagree:Guy's I run regular Chevron in all my computer controlled corvettes,I get great gas mileage haven't had any problems related to octane or detonation!!Drive it for 50-60 miles and the ECM will have reset the perimeters and she'll Be OK!! Granted I don't drive Like I used to,I've learned how expensive broken part are and if mine ran any better I'd give up SEX!!!!Besides I'm always working on someone else's and don't have time for mine!:lmao:

I agree with junkie:thumbsup: unless your car has been Prof.tuned or has other HP parts, reg.gas should not hurt your car.

Thanks

Thanks guys,
I put a bottle of octane boost and ran about 1/2 the tank out and filled it with premium. It's running fine now. As far as the reverse problem goes I think it is most likely me not pulling it all the way into gear.
Thanks again,
Mark

The Wife usually runs 89 in her car, I stick to 93. I like a product called CD-2. It is a fuel additive to use in older cars to replace the lead. Every couple of fillups I add some to the gas. Just to keep things clean in the fuel system and intake.

As far as the reverse gear goes, it is probably the synchronizer wearing or worn out. Mine does the same thing if I don't pay attention to it. It won't go all the way into reverse and then pops out (making an awful noise). Serious? Not really, but it is annoying. Mine has been like that ever since I bought it.
