C3 B&M Megashifter install in my 76

I saw another vette with a megashifter and knew I had to do this install too, only thing I didn't catch at first was the one I saw was in a 1977 with a different console than the 1976 which is much easier to work with. Needless to say what appeared to be a fairly easy fabrication kicked plan A, B and C out the window and turned into a complete fabrication from scratch.

Luckily I didn't install the A/C in the car so the controls weren't needed and the ash tray is never used and the Shift indicator from the factory didn't have an indicator so it was useless so all in all this improved the looks but it was a brain workout

I used a piece of aluminum plate to make an adapter for the shifter plate to reuse the factory shifter mounting holes and bolts. I used MDF board 1/4" thick to replace the original console plate and painted it with some Rustoleum Textured paint. It took several test fits and I had to build a second MDF console cover since the shift cable was hitting the surround for the shifter boot by 1/4", something a test fit didn't reveal.

This is the console shifter for the 1982-1992 Camaro and Firebirds with a shorter stick Part # 80692
