Bowling Green plant gearing up for next Corvette

Curacao

Island in the Caribbean.
General Motors Co. allowed officials to take a peek at the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant, where the next generation of the Chevrolet Corvette will be produced.

The Bowling Green Daily News reports that nearly 90 new robots have been installed in the new $50 million shop where the new Corvette body will be assembled.

GM (NYSE: GM) has not disclosed what the new vehicle will look like or when production will begin, according to the report. The plant currently is producing a 60th anniversary car and a new convertible.

GM will invest $131 million in the plant and will have created 250 jobs for the new vehicle, according to the report.

Yeah, after all the hype about the "Blue Devil" ZR-1, I certainly wasn't impressed with what reality turned out to be.

I have to agree, so far the C7 seems to be a let down for what it's "supposed" to look like. But I remember seeing the C6 for the first time and wasn't impressed either. It turned out to be quite a nice car and expect the same with the C7.

Actually Connie and I watched an old movie last night, and I'm pretty sure the car that showed in that movie will be the basis of the new C7 Corvette.....
