C3 Guage Sizes?

I feel I need to replace my water temperature gauge. I am sure its dead, but if someone else knows another test I missed, I sure am open to saving some money.

There are many after market ones out there in many different sizes. (I am even thinking about getting a bit creative here.) Does anyone know what the correct gauge size is for a '81?

Thanks.

You would need 2 1/16" gauges. Check out this link:

Hope this helps.

I actually tried a few 2&1/16" and like the article you recommended, it seemed like it would require some (IMHO, extensive) modifications. I was hoping someone made a easy drop in bolt on and that I still have not found. The ones in the Corvette cluster are kinda small overall and the aftermarket ones seem huge in comparison. I think I am going to just go back with normal OEM styled replacements. I am currently not ready to cut on my almost new gauge cluster.

I truly appreciate you comments and help. Thank you for your response.
