C4 Blower Motor

The blower motor on my '94 C4 finally quit working. It was working on and off since I bought the car. I have checked the Purple wire going into the blower and have 12+ volts. So I know I am getting power. Someone mentioned that it could be the relay. I see a 10 pin relay mounted on the side of the blower housing. Is that the relay for the blower? If so, how do I check it?:shrug01:

Thanks!

If you're getting power to the blower, I'm not sure the relay is the problem. If you had no power then I'd definitely suspect the relay. The relays usually have a small diagram stenciled on the side of them. It indicates which pins energize the relay and which pins carry power across the relay contacts. If it's a plug-in type relay it should be a simple matter of unplugging it, then jumpering across the pins that provide power to the blower. If the blower runs, the relay is the likely culprit. If the blower doesn't work, it could be in the circuit that energizes the relay. You can check power at the relay from the switch that controls the blower. Good luck.

Problem solved. As you said Mark, if I have power it more than likely isn't a relay. I just got back from AutoZone. I bought a new blower motor, plugged it in and it runs fine. Now tomorrow I get the fun job of replacing it. It will be nice to have A/C again.

New blower is installed. Took less than an hour. Very easy to do.
Thanks for everyones help. It's nice to have A/C again. :crazy03:
