C5 tranny paper blockers

I asked my local GM parts guy and he didn't have a clue. What are paper blockers and what is their purpose? Also, those who use Amsoil, are they using Amsoil atf or just light weight oil?

Yes he says they stopped with the tr-6060 (2008) sintered bronze.
