C7 Wish List

als2052

Road Trip!
What I would like to see on C7 in 2012:

1. Return to the Corvette tradition of hidden headlights
2. Remove air dam below
3. Improve interior looks and quality
4. Make Nav system std equipment
5. Improve seat comfort
6. Improve Targa top material
7. Get rid of Goodyear tires
8. Improve stereo
9. Remove Onstar
10. Increase gas mileage

Anything else you can think of?

If the depreciation is anthing like it has been on the C6, you will be able to afford it, no problem...

I have a C5 and I don't like the hidden headlights because when they're on it breaks up the profile of the car. The stereo may depend on the music you listen to. I was getting gas and another C5 pulls in and I swear it sounded like a 1000W unit. I asked the young guy what he had for a stereo cause it was just booming. He said it was the same as mine, a stock Bose. Get some music the kids listen to and you'll be amazed when you play it in your car.

I just wish I could afford a C-7.:nonod:

:yesnod:I wish I could afford a C-anything right now!:D

Ain't that a fact!
Or, throw in a little Trace Adkins and "turn it up some!":D

I'm with you on the lights.
Although they look great when they're down, I've never cared for them when up.
There's got to be a better way to incorporate them into the bodylines of the vette than what they came up with on the C6. Although not bad, with all the tiny asses electronics and major HID lighting systems available today, there's got to be a better way!:yesnod:

Just a few in the keepen it goin' catagory (C5):
*) knock sensors and oil pressure sending unit you can change without tearing the intake off
*) remote clutch bleeder or better yet a clutch that doesn't need to be bled
*) access to rear spark plugs for the common man
*) turn signal bulbs that don't burn holes in the housings and blow when you wash the Vette
*) turn signal bulbs I can get to without disassembly of top or bottom of the Vette or "asking the wifey to help" with her small hands
*) seat foam and leather that last more than 50k miles (I'm getting ready to change for 3rd time)
8) locate the computer somewhere (anywhere) other than below the leaking battery

All said, I love my C5 and it's paid for  11 years of smiles :D

This is a joke right? Do you really think they'll give you access to that rear spark plug? :D

Could you tell me what you do to replace the worn leather seat? And maybe the price? I have an '03 and that seat is showing wear. 45,000 Mi.

I bought mod Red leather/vinyl from Mid-America, and new foam bottoms from GM 5 years agofor about , $850 +/-, and installed myself (price has gone up). Note: Original seats lasted about 5 years on my daily drive.

I'm looking at 2 options this time. Corbeau A4's leather $1,100 +/- with tracks or DJ Motorsport full leather seats and accessories, $900 +/-, but then I will need to refurbish my Sport Seat Frames, side bolsters, lumbar bladders, etc , $300 +/- or $1,200 - doing labor myself on both options.

I really like the A4's but have never sat in one. I'm 5'8, 210# with a 35" waist, it could be tight.

Unless they kill the corvette racing program, you won't ever see hidden headlights again. I'm hoping, since the car will still be built to corvette racing suggestions, the car will shrink a bit and loose some weight. You shouldn't need room for 4-golf bags...and luggage. I like the sharper lines we've seen on the transformer car, just not quite so extreme on the front. I'd also love for them to drop the goodyear contract, I do know it expires soon, but not sure when. With the ZR1 and corvette racing running michelins, it's only time before goodyear is out of the picture. How about a little less plastic in the interior and a little more carbon fiberl. Not a lot, but just a few items where wear and tear could benefit being carbon fiber. Oh, and how about a steering wheel that doesn't look like it came out of the cobalt. Just my $.02, not that I'll be buying a C7 too soon. But from my autocrossing stand point, I wouldn't ever buy a C6 or C6 sized corvette.

Thanks Rick. I've got the Anniversary Special and I would like to keep it as original as possible so I guess I need to start looking around.

You and I are close in height and weight (I'm 5'8" 235-230) and having sat in these before, if I were you, I'd hunt down a pair and "try them on for size."

All I can say is, it was "tight."
Getting in and out was a true PITA as well.
Not at all what I'd consider for a DD.

Pro-car makes a sweet all leather seat as well and not quite as pricey.

Huum, interesting thoughts:thumbsup:

I agree that the C5 is a beast to haul around a short course auto-x layout. Almost as bad as the (last gen) Camaro was.
I've done it in the Camaro, but it wasn't easy and took it's toll on the cars brakes, cooling and steering!

I've done it in a C5 as well and although not quite as bad, still a beast (IMO).

As for the ability to take things along, a lot of people still need or want, to carry "things" with them. If it's a DD, they you're going to need the room at some point. I don't think GM will ever downsize it as much as you're suggesting, to avoid losing mass appeal.
If I were going to get something that small and useless for a DD, I'd buy a 2 seater import or that damned foreign clown car ride that looks like a freaking beach buggy wanna be:lmao:

I too would like to see some real changes to the exterior, not just paint and decals!
And the interior of these (and most GM products anymore) has always been a major complaint as to quality (or the lack thereof).

I'd love to see more CF or other materials used that would look better, be lighter and hold up longer, and some decent leather for the seats:yesnod::thumbsup:
And yes...get a sportier wheel in the cabin. Good Gawd!

Overall, the C6 is a nice balance between a useful DD (non-family with kids types), and a weekend racer:thumbsup:

It's smaller and IIRC a little lighter than the previous C5, has nice lines, and I just wish they'd find a way to clean up the exposed headlight housings.

I hated the flip ups on all except the early models.

From the C3 up, they just looked out of place and destroyed the smooth, clean lines of the car when in the up position.
...and it was one more thing to stop working at the worst possible time:rofl1:.

Thanks Shadow. Was sitting here this morning with CC in hand almost ready to pull the trigger. I really don't like the Sport Seat quality; I'll keep looking for alternatives.

Call Corvette Interiors over here in Titusville...owned by Ron Wood. He does interiors, to include 'complete' interiors. He can recover your worn seats far way cheaper than buying the whole thing. Its' the leather that is worn out...not the foam and framework. If the seat does need 'beefing' up in the foam, or other areas, he can take care of that as well. Call him at 321-269-3887...be specific and I'll betcha you get a price to repair that you can't refuse.
