Caliper Painting

T2000

Sarge
I'm considering buying the caliper paint kit and trying myself. Has anyone done this? If so, how did it go? Is this a spray or brush? Do the calipers have to be removed todo this? Thanks for your help.

Spray

I would never take off the calipers just to apply paint. First of all clean them real good with a wire brush and carb cleaner solvent. Clean again with alcohol. Mask off the rotor and the general area around the caliper (spray paint goes everywhere) and hit them lightly for about 3 coats. On the front calipers just take a sanding block and lightly sand off the word "Corvette". I did the ones on our '03 and it's going on 2 years. The "kits" that you buy from Eckler's etc. are ment to be put on with a brush. I guess that would be OK too. As for those "kits"....I went to Lowes and bought a couple of cans of Rustoleum (color close to EB) about $5.00 a can. About 4 hours work and $10.00 in paint. Most of the work is jacking up each wheel, taking off the wheel and waiting for each coat to dry. Good luck!!! :dancer01:

For Your Consideration

Have you considered putting Drilled and Slotted Rotors on your Vette?
All of the Vettes I have owned (4) have had the brakes replaced by Andreh.

I just had my Z06 done last week at Insty-Lube by Andreh. He put new slotted and drilled rotors on, ceramic pads, drained and clean lines, painted the calipers and rotor centers and painted the Corvette logo to match the car. Come over Saturday and talk to him....Mine was about $850.00 (C5)complete. Took him 3 hours!!!
They look great!!!

While the wheels are off car, he will let you clean them, inside and out!!!

IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT AND YOU ARE BORED!!!!!!

WE HAVE AN IN-FORMAL CAR SHOW EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT ...FROM ABOUT 6:00pm TO 8:00pm AT ANDREH'S INSTY-LUBE ON NORTH DALE MABRY IN TAMPA.

YOU CAN'T MISS US....JUST SOUTH OF ERLICH ROAD NEXT TO PIZZA HUT.

WE HANG OUT FOR A FEW HOURS AND THEN GO TO RONNIE STETSERS CAR SHOW ON GUNN HWY..... AT BURGER KING OR LARGO BURGER KING ON 19 EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT.......JUST TO HANG OUT.

COME OVER AND TALK SOME "CORVETTE AND CAR TRASH" WITH US...AND PICK ANDREH'S BRAIN FOR CORVETTE OR ENGINE TECH INFORMATION. COME OVER ALITTLE EARLIER AND GET THAT NASTY OIL CHANGED OR LET HIM DO SOME UNSCHEDULED MINOR REPAIRS.

ALL CARS ARE WELCOME.....COME IN AND INTRODUCE YOURSELF!!!!

WE HAVE A LEAST 20 CORVETTES/HOT RODS/CUSTOMS SHOWING THERE WEARS!!!!

Yeah man! Replacing the rotors on my Z5Z with drilled and slotted Eradispeeds was one of the first mods I had done to it. Makes a HECK of a difference in appearance.

I used the kit with a brush it comes with cleaning stuff and was around $14.
Worked great and did not have to remove rotors just followed instructions.
It is made by Duplicolor. Took about an hour and after 6 months still looks like the day I put it on. One suggestion is buy a brush the one that comes with the kit is a POS.
