Callaway C6 - One awesome ride!

truth seeker
Took a demo ride in a new Callaway last Fri. and I'm still in dreamland...The 580HP conversion by Callaway has awesome acceleration with smooooth transition of power. The high pitched whine of the Maggie supercharger is sheer music! Seems like I'm hopelessly hooked and probably will order an '09 soon. Only thing I don't like is that it appears that the last 2 yrs of the GM powertrain warranty will fall into the black hole. The whole Callaway pkg will carry the 3yr 36M warranty jointly by GM and Callaway. Anybody who has experience with the Callaway pkg please step in w/ advice or comments:dancer01:

Wow Ted,
I'll have to race you to the Ringside Cafe!!! I can't wait to see it. What color are you considering this time?

Hey Mark,

I'm serious about wanting one of these mean machines, but have some issues to clarify w/ both the dealer & Callaway. I was thinking about a coupe in Cyber Grey or the new shade of silver...no more red for a while:reddevil:

Cyber Gray sounds really great. Heck, they're all great.
ps: I sent you a pm.

What kind of issues are you having with Callaway? I've heard nothing but GREAT things about them. Even their late 80's Twin Turbo vettes are still running strong. At least the few that I've seen and have heard of. They seem to really be able to take a beating and keep on ticking.

If you have any questions about Callaways...make sure to check out the callaway owners group

GM & Callaway jointly warrant the engine/power train for 3 yrs/36M miles. I'm receiving conflicting info on what happens to the last 2 yrs of the GM 5yr 100M power train warranty...dealer is saying that GM/Callaway continue to jointly warrant the power train thru the 5yr/100mi period, while Callaway is saying nope, its only 3/36 and then GM drops the addt'l power train warranty after that because of the added performance components.

Needless to say, I ain't putting up any $ till this is clarified (in writing):yesnod:

what kind of price are these Callaways going for?

There are several packages available depending on what you want to spend. The basic pkg w/ Maggie supercharger, intercooler, manifold, Honker, Double D exhaust, hood, badging and mats is $18,500 + addt'l shipping. There are other add ons that can run in up many more thousands $$. This of course, is over and above the cost of the base car:D

With the performance enhancements I can understand why callaway wouldn't want to cover the car for 5 years. I wouldn't expect the dealer to uphold the original powertrain warranty with all the go fast goodies...although it sure would be nice. Good luck, but I can see your reason for hesitation. They just need to be upfront with you.

not bad. . . I was expecting it to be much more! This would probably be a little more collectable than a Z06, right?

I just heard Dimmit became an official Callaway dealer. That's one sweet ride. Pricey, but sweet. Hope you can close the deal.

Yup...unfortunately that's part of the issue. Since they are currently the only Callaway dealer in FL, they are insisting on full MSRP for the base car (almost unheard in today's market) + the Callaway add on. Unless I can negotiate a better deal, I will continue to be a fan instead of an owner. Dimmitt is not known for making good deals on Corvettes:nonod:

If they are giving you issues, I'd contact Callaway and ask for a preferred dealer list (top 5 maybe). Also ask on the Callaway forum for a dealer they suggest. Then call them up and see what kind of deal they are offering. You might be able to find a deal that is better even with the added cost of a plane ticket, hotel and fuel for the ride home. Plus you'll get the pleasure of driving her on the open road (might want to make sure you have a good radar detector).

Callaway dealer

I am a Callaway dealer in Florida.
If you are really looking to get this done, I know of a dealership (Tommy Thomas )that you could probably get a good deal on the car and then the Callaway stuff we could talk about on my end.
It may help you out $$ wise.

Just let me know if you are interested.

Thanks,
Chris
