C6 Convertible top problem

I have a 2007 C6 convertible with the electric top actuator. Lately, when I lower (or raise) the convertible top, there is an instance where the latch on the closeout panel strikes the glass of the convertible top. This is while the top is semi-folded up, and the closeout panel raises (opens) of lowers (closes).

I have had it at the dealer twice for this problem as I am worried it may damage the glass. Twice they say they have adjusted "the striker" on the rear panel, but this has failed to correct the problem. Yesterday, I had it at the shop, and as soon as I got home, tried it, and again the glass was struck by the latch.

Any ideas, help from my friends out there...???

I have the same issue...

seem the glass/material has gotten 'lazy' over time and the deck strikes the glass surround if I don't stick my hand up there to hold the glass up so no strike occurs. I've kinda lived with the problem, but I do now think I need to get the stealership to look at it since you brought it up. I thought maybe I was the only one suffering from the strike.

C6 Convertible top problem

Just got back from the dealer  who claims that the fabric on the ragtop gets less rigid with time and therefore the glass hangs down seemingly loose. There is no apparent fix to this problem, other than sticking your hand back there and pulling slightly on the glass so it does not get hit by the latch. Just make sure you pull your hand out so it does not get struck instead of the glass. Guess I will have to live with the problem. :banghead:

Just got mine fixed...

The 'stealership' you went to is obviously lazy...there is a fix...GM service bulletin #09-08-67-013C. Subject: ...Folding top contacts stowage compartment (tonneau) and/or tonneau contacts rear window during top operation...

Models: 2005-2013 Chevrolet Corvette

Its on every service dept's computer in/at the dealership. It took the tech assigned to my car about 1 hour and $69.95 later and problem is solved. Fix: shorten the #4 side rail link tension strap to increase the tension...do same to #5 bow as required. Another words, the tech shortened the strap about a 1/4 inch on each side and reinstalled the screw that holds it in place. Works like new again. :dancer01:

To me, you've got a lazy service dept and/or technicians where u go! :toetap05:

If you get no satisfaction, then come over to Cocoa and go to Bob Steele Chevy...they have now fixed a couple of these to include mine. Their phone is 321-632-6700 to make an appt. It might be worth your time to come over here than continue to get the run-a-round from your place.

Talk with Ron Thompson, in the service department (321-632-6700 or 888-237-4241). If you mention that I sent you their way, Ron might be able to cut you a break. Mention to Ron that he services my red '06 and my silver '82...that should help you along. The service dept manager also knows about this top issue, but I can't recall his name at the moment. They brought me back into the bay and showed me what the issue entails.

As a side note, the top on my '06 has been dealt with twice, with all slack available now gone, and the top still hits the window, albeit very slightly. Another words, Chevy will do what they can, but I think your top, along with countless others like mine, will have to live with this issue. :shrug01:
