cost of a used LS1 engine?

About what is the normal price of a used LS1 engine complete going for?

I've seen used LS2's for around 3 to 4K. I have a crazy idea of doing a LS swap of some kind for my new truck. :dancer01:

car-parts.com

It searches junkyards in your area. . ive used the site a couple times for engines.

Thanks,

I will give it a whirl.

Good choice. You might also check with Greg at AntiVenom or Tracey at Rev Extreme. They may have some lines on a used engine.

It all depends on the year, condition, mileage, etc. I bought one once for $1000.00.

Just depends.

I'm sure Greg or RevExtreme come across some LS engine from time to time.

I think the Colorado would be a killer truck with a LS engine swapped into it.

We have one available (low miles) for $2000 complete & we do swaps in all sorts of vehicles (Greg does to).

if your gonna put it in a truck I would buy a wrecked gto then you have your tranny wireing harness and accessories pm me for info on how to get a low milage ls2 wreck

Thanks guys for the help so soon. The LS swap would be a year away at least. I need to save up some money and don't how mild to wild i would wanna go.

I would love a LS3 with a A6 trans, but don't know how well the rest of the truck would hold up. I'm sure i would need better breaks, rearend and so forth, and the cost would be high for such a swap. Or i could go more mild and just do a LS1 and use my 4L60E trans that i already have in my truck.

Seems GM may bring out a V8 Colorado in 09 with a 5.3 but only for Ext cabs or crew cabs.

You know he has a wall of them Charlie, Im sure he would be happy to let one go for close to nothing. He has done some crazy swaps before, my favorite was Steve's LS1 el camino

I would love for Greg to do a swap, don't know how trouble it would be stuffing a LS engine in my truck, and keeping everything fuel injected with the computer and all.

I never i mean NEVER want to go back to a carb on my engine.
