DIC code help

mickeystoysz16

I have stripes
I am getting a code before start up. If I put the key in the ignition and turn the key but do not crank the engine I get an error the says:

"Pull key wait 10 sec."

If I turn the key off and take it out of the ignition count off 10 sec. and then restart the key every thing starts as normal.

Anyone know what this message indicates from the first key on attempt? :shrug01:

No there is no column lock bypass installed and I have not had a service column lock code since replacing the battery about a year and half ago . Since then the battery also stays on a battery tender when I dont drive it every week.

I stay away from battery tender since they tend to fry batteries after a while...I just start car and let run to operating temperature on weekends on dont use it...battery tender are better used on boating applications when boat is docked longer than a couple of weeks...

I reset the codes yesterday then today drove the Z16 to Bush Gardens, went for lunch and then some shopping and errands. No more DIC message so I don't know if that solved the problem or what. I have not rechecked the codes so I am hoping it was an intermittent, but the history showed a couple of A/C related codes and the rest were left and right DCM.

But for now no more pull key wait 10 sec. I will keep and eye on it though to see if it pops back up. If it does I will check the BCM and A/C baffles.

Its the first time I heard a tender frying a battery. I have had one on my C4 for years and got 8 years out of my last battery in Florida. Never had a problem with the tender. Thinking of getting one for my C5 with all the travel I do for work.

If it would fry the battery on a car, why would it not fry the battery on a boat??? Just curious...
