C5 DIC odometer display??

Can anyone tell me how to stop the odometer reading from coming up on the DIC everytime I start my vette? The DIC always cleared out after the usual messages after starting the car but ever since I took the car to a body shop to have repairs done the odometer mileage reading stays on the DIC. I have to hit the trip button thru all the trip readings to clear it . Thanks

Mine always comes up on whatever I last set it on. I always have it set on "Average Mileage" and that is where is comes up. If yours is reverting always to the odometer, I'm at a loss as to why. Anybody??

If you want to have the DIC be blank after your initial start up, just page through the Trip button (or any of the informational buttons) until you get a blank screen. They all have one if I remember correctly. If you leave it on that setting it will remember and always come back to that blank screen when you restart the engine.

iagree each button on the right of the dash has a blank. It has to be set to that and after a restart it should go back to that setting. if it does not something may be wrong.

I always keep my DIC set to show instant MPG readings. Doesn't seem to change next time I start up the car.

What's the big deal about having the mileage show up there?

odometer showing?

Hi Guys, Thanks for the responses. I have been paging thru the trip setting to the blank page to clear the odometer reading off the DIC but it returns after each restart after the initial messages appear. Any other ideas???
Thanks

Battery

Funny things with the DIC indicated my battery was going out. Replaced it and had no problems after that. It seems the rest of the car, starting, headlights, etc. are not affected but the DIC is really sensitive to voltage flucuations. Not sure if I spelled that right....
