Email Letter from GM

New member
I just received an email from GM and thought I share it with you.

=========================================================

You made the right choice when you put your confidence in General Motors, and we appreciate your past support. I want to assure you that we are making our best vehicles ever, and we have exciting plans for the future. But we need your help now. Simply put, we need you to join us to let Congress know that a bridge loan to help U.S. automakers also helps strengthen the U.S. economy and preserve millions of American jobs.

Despite what you may be hearing, we are not asking Congress for a bailout but rather a loan that will be repaid.

The U.S. economy is at a crossroads due to the worldwide credit crisis, and all Americans are feeling the effects of the worst economic downturn in 75 years. Despite our successful efforts to restructure, reduce costs and enhance liquidity, U.S. auto sales rely on access to credit, which is all but frozen through traditional channels.

The consequences of the domestic auto industry collapsing would far exceed the $25 billion loan needed to bridge the current crisis. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research:

• One in 10 American jobs depends on U.S. automakers
• Nearly 3 million jobs are at immediate risk
• U.S. personal income could be reduced by $150 billion
• The tax revenue lost over 3 years would be more than $156 billion

Discussions are now underway in Washington, D.C., concerning loans to support U.S. carmakers. I am asking for your support in this vital effort by contacting your state representatives.

Please take a few minutes to go to www.gmfactsandfiction.com, where we have made it easy for you to contact your U.S. senators and representatives. Just click on the "I'm a Concerned American" link under the "Mobilize Now" section, and enter your name and ZIP code to send a personalized e-mail stating your support for the U.S. automotive industry.

Let me assure you that General Motors has made dramatic improvements over the last 10 years. In fact, we are leading the industry with award-winning vehicles like the Chevrolet Malibu, Cadillac CTS, Buick Enclave, Pontiac G8, GMC Acadia, Chevy Tahoe Hybrid, Saturn AURA and more. We offer 18 models with an EPA estimated 30 MPG highway or better — more than Toyota or Honda. GM has 6 hybrids in market and 3 more by mid-2009. GM has closed the quality gap with the imports, and today we are putting our best quality vehicles on the road.

What do you think?? :shrug01:

What do you think?? :shrug01:

DOES that mean I git a new ZR-1???????

What do you think??

I think our government will once again use AMERICAN TAXPAYER MONEY to bail out a PRIVATE ENTERPRISE :mad:

This so the fat cats can continue to get FAT, the auto stealerships can continue to gouge the buying public and the industry as a whole can continue to build less than top quality vehicles!

I think they need to learn how to run a successful business.

I think the fat cats need to go or have thier salaries slashed.

I think the UNION needs to go away:wavey:and

I think there needs to be changes in the workplace to protect the worker without need for unions!

I think the company needs to be more receptive to the buying public.

I think they need to man up and learn to work within a budget.

In case I wasn't clear....NO BAILOUTS!! NO LOANS!!

Heh I just responded to a similar post on the ego vette forum, this was my response about helping them.

GM can fall flat on its face for all I care. GM stood behind my local dealer who voided my warranty for using pulse technology plugs, when they were ngk v-sparks. Supposedly regular spark plugs interfere with ecus and cause the car do to all sorts of weird things like, turn your headlights on in broad daylight, make your auto tinting mirrors tint during the day and allow you to be blinded at night. Oh and the spark plugs also make your brand new stock alternator which was replaced for the (service charging system msg) not charge, so its all the plugs and my fault.

Those are just two of the things GM stood behind, felt like it could squeeze more money out of me, so f them and their stupid clown shoes.

If it wasnt for revxtreme fixing the issues, i woulda sold the car and bought another ford, least its still an american vehicle.

Sorry, but GM is just going to have to do what every other business has to do when things get slow moving inventory. Lower the prices so that volume picks up again. Tighten the belt and make offers to potential buyers that they just cannot afford to refuse. I really don't need a new Z06, but put that price around $55K, and I just might change my mind... Inform any dealers that absorb that price break to line their own pockets that they will lose their franchise. This is for the CUSTOMERS, not them.

Do that, and things will turn around. Dealers will be moving inventory keeping salespeople employed. The service departments will be making money on warranty repairs on the new cars, plus engender a lot of good will with those customers enough for them to bring in their non-warranty vehicles in for service as well.

This is all do-able. The dealers and GM just need to come back around and recognize their customers as being CRITICAL to their survival and treat them as such. Don't kick us in the teeth with price hikes to cover bonuses, and dealers fleecing us at every turn with things like surcharges when particular models are hot sellers. Treat US right, and we will treat YOU right.

Also, make a deal with the workforce that they either take a cut in pay or they will be out of a job when the plant closes down. After all, if WE are being asked to make a showing of saving GM, why the heck aren't the employees, from the top down making an effort as well? What are they going to do? Strike? And then be permanently out of a job? I hope the unions aren't THAT stupid.

So, no, don't just go to Uncle Sugar and ask us to pony up with our tax dollars unless YOU are going to make sacrifices as well.

So the ball is now in YOUR court, GM. Make that swing count, fellas.

The big three are in Washington right now testifying before Congress.
Our old buddy Barney Franks, who was one of the lead contributors to the mortgage crisis, is pushing for the bail-out to keep the United Auto Workers union on his/democrats side. At the hearing, a democrat rep from New York, commented that the three CEOs arrived in Washington in private luxury airplanes and then went to the hearings with a tin cup.
The president of the UAW is also at the hearing. He talked about how much current and retired workers have given up to help the auto industry.
Yeah, right. Through the years they have been a major contributor to high car prices with their out of touch salary and benefits demands.
