emissions testing

ill be moving to new england within a month to finish school. anyone have experience with emission testing? i have gutted cats, no rear 02 sensors.

yeah, im thinking im going to run into trouble. also deleted the smog pump and whatever came off the headers. normally it would be part of the egr system but i dont think that the ls1 for the vette has the egr system.

I know I've read at least a couple of people up north that have found shops to do work around with modified cars on the CF forum. Might want to start a thread over on the corvetteforum in the northeast regional section.

I'm not sure when or where I heard it, but I heard that some states do a physical examination and if ANYTHING is not stock (ie: headers), then that is an automatic FAIL. I would guess that California would likely be one of the strictest states, but Massachusetts could likely be pretty tough too.

Mass IS tough. They have a set of standards that they have to go by, and most will
flunk you if anything is wrong. They check the lights, horn wipers, ball joints/front wheel bearings,
turn signals, emissions, rotted out sections, and more that I can't think of at the moment.
Bottom line, if I were you, I would buy a cheap car to drive around while in MASS,
and leave the Vette at home. MASS also has a law that if you are in the state 30 or more days,
you have to have the car registered in MASS, and that means paying the sales tax on the book
value of the car at 6.25%. You're more than welcome to bring the Vette up here, but I can
almost GUARANTEE that you will NOT like the experience. Just my 2 cents worth......

It depends on which state and region .

In Maine only two southern counties do emission testing .New Hampshire has emission testing in all areas .

I'd keep my Florida plates and you won't have to get the car inspected .I have New Hampshire plates on my 08 and have never gotten a state inspection .One state cannot enforce another states inspection laws unless your a danger to others .I'm legal in 49 states except NH .As matter of fact I don't even register my car .

Phuck the law ,just don't let 'em take ya alive I say .

thanks for the input. ill be in new hampshire, but will keep fl. tags as long as i can. after that im just going to have to go to the inspection with a pocket full of cash. im thinking that ill hook up with some hot rodders as soon as i get up there. they will know the routine and who to go see to get inspected.
