:welcome: to the Forum...
Not to Insult you, but...is it a knock or a tapping?
Some people say knock, but mean tap.

Knocking...I'm not sure I'd do the seafoam thing, but rather have a looksee at the rods, pistons, bearings etc.

If it's Just Taping...gunked up lifters/valves. Clean'um, then a oil change.

The noise sounds like a detonation problem, I have listened to the motor and had my buddy listen also, we both believe it is fuel detonation related, It is starts the load rattle/ping sound around 1700 rpm under load, but in park or neutral, you can rev the motor to 3500 to 4000 no problem. It just feels like a fuel detonation like when you get bad fuel. I can drive as long as I baby it, enough to get it to the shop.:banghead:

The car is 03 C5 with 33K, Great condition. It only makes the noise under load, air off or on. There is no lifter tap, and the idle is smooth. We just get the noise undrr load at around 1500 rpm, but and rev up 3500 in park with no noise!!!!!:banghead:

Any chance you DID get bad gasoline? Tried going to a different station/brand and topping off the tank with 93 octane? Maybe adding an octane booster additive?

Getting any codes on the DIC? Normally engine knocks will set a red flag on the computer....

If you know someone with HPtuners or equivalent, they can data log your engine parameters real time to see what is going on. Generally when knock is detected, the timing advance is pulled back a bit to compensate. There is a sensor that actually detects engine knock so the PCM can compensate for that potentially dangerous condition.

Worse comes to worse you may have to take it to a dealer so they can check it out with their own diagnostic equipment.

Finally got the time to take it to Ferman, They said the muffler on the right side has a lose baffle, by the way I changed plugs and wires, it runs great, but sounds like shit until it warms up. Getting ready for new cat back exhuast. Looking at Borla, want something agressive. :dancer01:

SIL50,
How agressive do you want to sound? My 2001 vert has Borla Stingers, they sound pretty good, nice growl at throttle, no drone at cruising down the hi-way. BUT, I was behind a car on our lunch cruise last week and he had B&B's on, dual tips instead of quad, I think they were the rt66's I could be wrong, but those sounded NICE ! I think he enjoyed making those pipes roar, I know I would. My daughter in the car with me stated that I should get those pipes for my car, which by the way is a stock 2000 vert.
