Goldie had an upper-end oiling issue after we put in the new roller cam & lifters so we used the boroscope to look dow into the cam journals and we see the rear most is not seated in all the way...in fact it is almost a 1/8" out so that looks like the culprit:
We then pulled the motor (we hand only done a in-car cam swap to begin with due to lobes starting to wear on the flat-tappet cam):
so we could inspect all oil galleys & passages for obstructions (Grump, take a look at this)
and here is a pic of the rear cam bearing before removal:
Not good looking and you can see a good part of the oil hole is blocked from it not being seated properly. Most likley from the machine shop that did the original machining on the block since the build is first class. Whoever rebuilt this motor before (and it still looks like new inside) had done a fabulous job. Note the pic below of the rear oil groove with the bearing removed. You can see how the bearing not seated all the way was obstructing it:
Here are some shots of the quality of the build before Ken got it. Cyl walls show no wear, but nice even glaze from the rings seateing properly:
Here are a series of pics of the balacing job done.....note drill relief holes in the piston bottoms & the chamfer's where material was removed on the rod caps. This motor was built right:
Motor is going back together now (yes we work 24/7....or so it seems) and hope to drop in back in Monday with Tue as a goal to deliver it.
