Anyone else see the recent media frenzy on the N.C cop using a C6Z as a patrol car. They all mention its racing engine, 198mph top speed and they NEVER forget to mention base price of 74k(when in reality dealers markem 85k).

They never read that is was seized from a drug dealer an cost them nothing, nor do they mention that part.

Why does the Vette seem to get more of a bad rep when in accidents or even for good?
 
It hardly seems worth the effort to put it in the news. :shrug01: There was a story a few years ago about the cops in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. using a C-5Z as a patrol car so a precedent has already been set.
 
Just attention whore media.... Headlines sell papers (or get you to tune in and see commercials). It is angled to get the anger of people up about the "government" misusing the money to "buy" the Vette. They probably never actually said that but we know what a few choise spin doctor words can lead people to believe without them actually saying it. It's like when they print a huge front page story about someone doing wrong, then a few days later posting a 1"X1" apology on the back page saying "oops we messed up".

I hate the news media.

If they want to do a story about mis spending, take a look at the fleet purchases made every year:eek: Now there's chunk of change for ya!:lmao:

Even if the vette had been purchased, which it hadn't, it wouldn't come close to the $$ we waste every year on these purchase.:lmao:

The media isn't concerned about "news", facts, or accuracy. They are only concerned with selling advertising spots to earn money. They will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal.

Heck, I'd bet the Weather Channel is having a hissy fit since this has been a slow season for tropical storms (knock on wood) and their advertising revenue is probably in the toilet accordingly.... You can actually see their eyes light up when there is something brewing on the radar in years past.
 
Well thanks to El nino the pacific coast is supposed to get hammered. El nina decided to give east coast a break finally.
 
I was hoping for one of those big earthquakes like in the movies. Escape from L.A comes to mind haha, Kurt Russell can live out in movie irl.

I was just thinking this same thought today after we were talking about the dry spell and NO STORMS.
 
The days of Walter Cronkite where we believed what was written or spoken by people we had respect for in media are all but gone. :wavey: Even old Walter in later years fasely reported the events of the TET offensive in 1968, spinning his own agenda.

Americans are no longer down on the farm hanging on for and believing any bit of news from the newspaper and TV station. The internet, twitter, blogs, etc is driving the old media nuts and lowering their paper sales and ratings, we now have opposing views. Blogs like congress.org can tell us immediately how our representatives voted on key issues.

The New York Times even moved to the middle this week on the Cambrigde Gates/Crowley matter. Z06 Rocket said it best, "it's all about sales".

I used to get really upset when I would listen to the President give a broadcast speech and this BOOB would come on later and say, "now this is really what he said" :shrug01: I don't get upset anymore because it's entertainment not news.

I drive my neighbor crazey:crazy03:, he's an Editor for the Herald Tribune (New York Times). I cancelled my subscription "to his liberal rag" about 10 years ago. When I see him I ask if I can have his old paper, his eyes used to light up, to clean my vettes windows. :thumbsup: It's gotten to be a joke now.
 
^ If you do that, you'll smear the libbey news all over your windows. After which, don't be surprised if you are driving the Vette one day afterwards and suddenly have a deep appreciation for Al Gore.:hehehe:

But yea, I hate the media in general. Not so much this week, but the last few weeks were pretty bad. We had security kick them off property, but a few sneak back in. Then they release misleading and incorrect news articles, and even do stuff that offends me. Which is hard to do. I guess that this is just another case where you need to take everything with "a grain of salt".
