Event has been postponed to April 21st, 2012 due to RAIN!! See everyone in 30 days!!

I've been watching the radar and I'm not sure we're even going to get anything from that front moving through. Seems to have broken apart. The local Corvette club has a show at Champion Chevrolet on Saturday as well, so if the rain holds off, I'll likely be going there.

Wish we could predict the future.........this morning and still now all forecasts say 60% chance of rain. Couldn't take that chance!

Yeah, I hear that! The weather forecasts have been pretty much useless beyond 4 hours into the future lately. I'm going to get up tomorrow morning, take a look at the weather radar, and either get ready to go to the show or go back to bed, depending on what I see on the screen. But you certainly can't play it that loose with all the people counting on a nice day at your event. Hopefully April will be better. Probably way too soon for me to even think about taking the C5Z out there even if it gets done in time. I'm just not going to be able to trust it to not kaboom on me for a while.

Connie and I drove through Carrabelle today, so we decided to find the airport there in case we decide to run out to this event. It's actually southwest of the town, on the other side of the bridge, but not at all hard to find.

Hopefully the weather forecast will be better for next Saturday.

Man, you guys just can't seem to catch a break. Weather forecast is calling for a 40 percent chance of rain on Saturday. The wife and I were planning on running out there as spectators.

Are you going to run with it, or reschedule?

Aargh... Now the national weather service has a severe thunderstorm watch out for Saturday. Rats. I was planning on getting some video of those cars running flat out.

Well, they are calling for PM thunderstorms now, so maybe if we get there early and leave before the bad weather shows up it will be OK. :shrug01:

Well, so much for the forecast of "PM showers". Woke up this morning and could hear thunder off on the distance. Cranked up the PC and took a look at the radar image. Well, looks like there is rain moving through Carrabelle right now. Then a short break, and LOTS of more rain coming up from the south.

Guess Connie and I will be staying home today.... :(

Rich..do you know if they were able to pull this event off? I wanted to go but had a fund-raiser for St Jude to attend. If they had to reschedule I might be interested. The web site does not give any info as to how it went.

No, I haven't heard a word about it. But based on what I saw on the radar, it rained in Carrabelle pretty much most of the day yesterday. So I really doubt many people would have been willing to run their cars flat out on a wet runway.

Thanks..I know they have an event set for sometime in October. Don't know if this one will get rescheduled again.

I would think that it would. I believe people paid to participate in the event, so I'm sure the promoter would want to make sure they get their money's worth. I don't know what sort of arrangement they make with the airport itself, though. If they have to pay for access to the airport regardless of the weather and whether or not the event takes place, then I would imagine this could be getting quite expensive for them already having to pay for two days that got screwed up because of the weather. I would imagine trying to promote events of this nature and being at the whim of the weather of the moment could be quite a pain in the butt.
