Hello from Nokomis

Formula Outlaw

65' 2 owner car
Just found out about this Forum this afternoon and joined tonight.

Own a 65' "survivor" Rally Red coupe, purchased from the original owner out of Mid Texas this past November with only 58,000 original miles.

Car is a matching #'s L76 motor, Muncie 4 speed, with 4.11 posi rear end.

The few "mods" I'v'e made (while obviously keeping the original parts) besides radial tires, are Breakerless SE electronic ignition, roller rockers and roller lifters, K & N air filter, performance coil and plug wires. Car runs strong.

I bought it to drive and enjoy it, not hang on a garage wall. I feel it helps keeps these "midyears" alive and well and has become a familar sight in the greater Sarasota area.

I think a Florida Forum is a great idea and look forward to my now third home away from home....:) :)

That's a nice car but it's not mine.

Mine has black interior, horizontal vents, and I just purchased it last November.

I've also got the KO wheels, L76 (327/365) motor. Cars do look quite similar though...:D

I was at the St. Armands Show couple weekends ago and lucky enough to take a trophy... Mine was the one blasting the Beach Boys out of the car....:D

Good to hear that you took a trophy home  .With that sweet ride it was easy win:thumbsup: .

:welcome: FO. Glad to see another vintage Vette in the stable. Not many on the board yet, but we are still young.

9T8 - FO's ride is a '65, the picture you posted I believe looks like a '64. I know it is sometimes hard to tell those old Corvettes apart when they are painted Red. Both great looking rides! :yesnod:

9T8, you are right, you only missed by a year. God knows the two gorgeous red paint jobs was enough to confuse any mortal Vette owner. The item that jumped off the page for me was the hood on the '64. If you notice there are two indentations in the front of the '64 hood. In '63, these indentations were filled with metal faux vents. For '64, they eliminated the metal vents but the indentations were left in the hood. In '65, they smoothed out the hood for the small blocks and in the spring of '65, they dropped the first big block into a Vette. Not enough room for the stock hood so that had to raise the center of the hood to clear the carb and breather.

Anyway 9T8, it is more important that you had enough appreciation for FO's ride that you went and dug into your old pixs because you thought you had a match. And if you didn't like the car you would have never taken the picture to begin with! :hurray:

And there are even fewer body differences between the 65' and 66'.

The "roof pillar vents" disappear on the 66'.

The front grill inset goes from chrome to black.

KO wheels no longer available due to Federal regulations...

The 66' might have an extra emblem on the front of the hood, can't remember...

Thanks for the nice comments on my car....

My favorite thing is to pull up to some guy in his brand new Porsche convertible and I always yell over, "sorry you can't hear your CD player cause my sidepipes are so loud".....:D
