I know you've been busy lately, but have you given any more thought
to the idea of getting a Hero 3 camera? You had mentioned it a while
back, and I was wondering if it's on the back burner, or completely off
the burner altogether. Reason I ask is that I've been seeing prices of
$329 for the black edition, and that's down from the $399 usual price.
Also been seeing info on the Hero 4's, but don't know when they will
be out. Just put in an order for a black edition myself yesterday, so I'm
looking forward to next week when it should be delivered. Amazon........

Actually every time I get an interest in perhaps buying one I would read specs and reviews of the Hero 3 and I would decide against getting it. I don't like the idea of not having any sort of viewfinder, for one thing. You can't see what the camcorder is seeing in real time. Yeah, you can see semi-real time using an app on a mobile device, but that wouldn't help me any in that I just am not married to mobile devices like apparently the rest of the world. I also don't care for a wide angle only camcorder, though I understand why they would design it like that. So the devil is in the details, I guess.

I can see where I would likely get some good use out of one, but I still haven't gotten the itch to actually pull the trigger on one yet.

Yeah, normally a price drop is a good sign that they are trying to clear out inventory before releasing a new model.

What are you hearing about the Hero 4?

And as for Amazon, what in the WORLD are they putting a distribution center in Florida for? They will likely lose a LOT of customer base here when they find out they now have to pay sales tax. But more importantly, what would a centralized distribution center be CENTER to here in Florida? Do they really get that much business from Miami and Naples? Will that business still be there when sales taxes kill sales for them in Florida? Put a distribution center in the MIDDLE of a segment of your customer base, for crying out loud!

Yeah, I'm already in the process of weaning myself off of Amazon.

Did you get your Hero3 yet?

I just got a notice that they have come out with the Hero3+ version.

Guess I'll wait to read some reviews before I consider this thing again.

Yep! I just got a Hero3 HD Black edition, but haven't had a chance to
check it out yet. Got the batteries charged up, but that's about all up
to this point. They DO make an LCD back which gives you the "viewfinder"
functionality if you "aren't married to smart phones" !!!

Hmm, interesting. Does that LCD back fit inside the protective case?

Yeah, when you buy the back, it comes with a bigger back to accommodate
the added depth. Backs are interchangeable. You can also get a larger battery
that attaches to the back of the camera and supplements the onboard
battery. I do NOT believe that you can have the battery back and the lcd
back on the camera at the same time.
