I have owned my Vette since new in '03. I am simply amazed that I had not found this site before. I think that Rich has done a superb job in setting this up and I want to say thanks.
A little about myself. I have lived in Florida about 20 yrs and relocated from Michigan. I am married to Mary for 15 yrs now and she tolerates the kid in me so I think I'll keep her.
I am an engineering consultant so I travel quite a bit although I am officially retired. Now for a little story.
I was working in Texas in '03 and a friend who was also my neighbor called from Florida. He was looking for a new Z06, color silver and couldn't find one. I offered to check in the Ft Worth area. On a Saturday we went looking and found one for him. We also saw this '03 Anniversary Special. I never had any intention of buying a Vette. A doctor had ordered the car and then changed his mind. You know what happened next, right?
We drove the car home. I told Mary just to bury me in the car when my time comes. This baby has every option available and I just love it. I wasn't happy with the acceleration so two weeks later I had the dealer install a 3:42. Now it's perfect. But there's more to the story!
Maybe a year later I'm looking through a Vette magazine. There's an article about a 15 yr old girl racing her Moms C5. She was a successful bracket racer. The magazine had pictures of her, her Dad and Mom and the motor home. Her Dad was talking about a weather station. I'm thinking what the hell is a weather station?
I had been a successful heads up racer and had the J stock record in 1971. Well, if a 15 year old can do this I sure can. So I started reading and understanding what this 'Bracket Racing' was all about. I even figured out the weather station. My friend Ted who owns Tag was a great help. He not only manufactures the Tag Weather Station but he was a successful racer as well.
OK, I'll wrap this up. Tracy Lewis who owns RevXtreme and his daughter Emily were the ones featured in the magazine article. They're the ones who turned me onto this sport. He's also the one that cost me some money as I pretty much copied his setup. Motor Home, trailer and yes, even a weather station.
Please remember I have a strange sense of humor. At least that's what my wife tells me. I think it's the rest of the world that has the problem.
