How To Fix the Economy

Road Trip!
"There recently was an article in the St. Petersburg Fl. Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on: "How Would You Fix the Economy?"
I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered – Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage – Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

Hey! What about us folks over 50 who are NOT in the workforce any longer? :toetap05:

We'll be payed in play money....it'll say "Made in China" on the bottom instead of "In God We Trust"!

If the minority get their way the "In God We Trust" will be coming off for sure.
I get so pissed sometimes but if our judges and judicial system don't have any balls that's what's going to happen. We will definitely pay a price for all of these 'social' changes.

Realistically, what are the options?
  1. Default on the loans and the value of the dollar dies in the world market, and products stop being exported to us
  2. Raise taxes to pay the debt, and bleed the people even more, many of which are already out of work and living off of government subsidies anyway
  3. Print up money to pay the debt and raise inflation to where money becomes worthless

I think I need to buy more guns and ammo with my money while it is still worth something....

At this point I think it's hopeless. I wonder how much longer we'll be a world power. We're OK but our kids and grandkids will suffer. Republicans and Democrats have us so far in the hole I see no way out.

I believe our problems really started when we went off the gold standard. (BTW, do we STILL have that gold in Fort Knox, or was it sold off and that money went into someone's pockets?)

Once the government grabbed the power to print up money at will, there was NO restraint against them doing just that. So they virtually had unlimited funds.

Hell, I read in the paper just yesterday that Obama unveiled the 2011 "budget" of $3.8 trillion. That includes $1.3 trillion in new borrowed funds from somebody. So right off the bat, nearly half of the "budget" is going into the game knowing they won't have that money at all to spend, but want to spend it anyway. You know that behind closed doors, they are all laughing whenever they use that word "budget" in their conversations...

I suspect that when those bozos in Washington D.C. completely destroy this country, afterwards they all will be hunted down like dogs by the angry populace. I believe people are finally getting PISSED at what they are doing to us. Of course, they are all likely have their "golden parachutes" already primed to move somewhere safe.

Oh yeah, here's an email making it's rounds that I just got recently....

Subject: Retribution is less than 1 year away!

Take a look at this and just remember elections in November 2010.

  • U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises.
  • They voted to NOT give you a S.S. Cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011.
  • Your Medicare premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years
  • You will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr.
  • Your total 2-yr loss and cost is -$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife.
  • Over these same 2-years each Congress person will get an additional $10,000

Do you feel SCREWED YET?

Will they have your cost of drugs - doctor fees - local taxes - food, etc., decrease? NO WAY!!. Congress and all Federal Employees received a raise and have better health and retirement benefits than you or I will ever have!!! AT NO COST TO THEM!!!!! (YOUR TAXES PAY FOR IT ALL)

Why should they care about you?

You never did anything about it in the past.

They think you are too stupid or don't care.

Do you really think that Nancy, Harry, Chris, Charlie,

Barnie, et al, care about you?

Send this message to those individuals --- “YOU'RE FIRED!

In 2010 you will have a chance to get rid of the sitting Congress: up to 1/3 of the Senate and 100% of the House!

Make sure you're still mad in November 2010 and remind their replacements not to screw-up.

It is ok to forward this to your sphere of influence if you are finally tired of the abuse. Maybe it's time for Amendment 28 to the Constitution..

28th Amendment will be as follows:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

Let's get this passed around, folks - these people in Washington have brought this upon themselves! It's time for retribution. Let's take back America ..

If you don't forward this to all your friends you will just become part of the problem of national apathy.

I would go after Barney Frank. He is the main guy in this recession. Housing caused this and he kept saying Fannie and Freddy were in great shape and John Q Public believed him. Bush also knew there were problems and tried to raise a flag but he could have stopped it and didn't.

I do not have the time or inclination to look at every member of Congress so I say vote them all out. We also need term limits. All they do now is try to protect their jobs. There's no end to the ear marks and pork. It's gotta stop.

Thank God for Fox news. We would not know half of what's going on without them, Soros would be running the show. Like I said Rich, we're OK but our kids and grand kids will suffer and pay. This is just so wrong and the only way it can change is through our vote. It's our responsibility to check out our representatives and VOTE.

If people don't vote and think they just have to take care of themselves they need to know that doesn't work. It works for them but not for those that follow. If we do not try to leave this world in better shape than when we came it can only go in one direction.

Usually I get pissed thinking and writing about this stuff. Right now I feel very sad.

The problem with term limits is that there is little on this earth more dangerous to your freedom than a lame duck politician. At that point, they have nothing at all to lose by blatantly looking out for their own welfare during their last days in office.

So if term limits are imposed, then the transition needs to take place the day after the election. The lame ducks CANNOT be allowed to influence policy any longer.

I wish this were the case for the office of the president as well. Who knows how many damaging presidential directives have been written under those circumstances?

Speaking of which, I would like to see a "before" and "after" net worth comparison of all the people who have held the office of president. And I mean a THOROUGH financial disclosure.

Hey, here's an interesting bit of presidential trivia concerning a salary increase for that office.....

"Sec. 644. (a) Increase in Annual Compensation.--Section 102 of title 3, United States Code, is amended by striking '$200,000' and inserting '$400,000'. (b) Effective Date.--The <<NOTE: 3 USC 102 note.>> amendment made by this section shall take effect at noon on January 20, 2001."

How's that for a raise?
