C5 HVAC Light

Has anyone ever had the light on your HVAC unit go out, or dim? I've heard that it's really difficult to change the light out. Any ideas?
 
Nobody? It's really driving me nuts when I can't see the temp during daylight. Oh well, in the grand scheme of things I guess it's not that important.
 
No lites to them,All LEDS!! I repair them all the time,It's a pain in the A$$!!You can screw up the flat resisters real easy if your not extremely careful!:thumbsup:

See the 8 flat black resisters in the circuit board in the middle photo, 1 or more have cold solder joints!!They will warp with heat,you have to be real careful not to get them too hot,or your screwed!!:banghead: :D

PS Depending the year C5,there may be 12 of them!!:thumbsup:

I appreciate the info. Have you changed all your lights (door panels and dash lights to L.E.D.'s? I've been interested in changing all mine to red for a long time. I wonder if anyone local does this kind of work?

I hear ya Mark. I've just wanted to change mine for a long time. I always planned on getting an aftermarket cd player with red lights to go along with changing the rest of them. I just never got around to it. I hear the door and dash lights aren't too difficult, but the HVAC unit is a bitch. Personally I'd prefer all blue L.E.D.'s, but I figure on the Z06 there's a lot of red accents (calipers and mod red interiors). I've already changed my inside trunk lights and part of my intake to red.

No,No,No I have No way to test them when I'm done except the vehicle it came out of,Different years have little different power supply board,97-98 are the same 99 is by it's self,2000-2001,are the same 2002-2004 are the same! You have to remove the console to get it out,So I remove them,repair them Test and Reinstall!!:thumbsup:Be best to catch me in the neighborhood with my tools of mass destruction with me!!:thumbsup:

Red would be a great choice with a mod red int. Mine is black with electron blue outside so I guess red would be OK for me. I don't mind the stock color so I may just go to the dealer for that. Probably have to take out a loan first though.:D

Don't worry Junk, it's not a real high priority right now.:D I've had the console out to install my Hurst shifter (a bit clunky for me BTW) and it was no problem but the lights are something I can live with for a while.:yesnod:
