I was just over on CF and thought I would email some members over there who I saw were located in Florida, but I backed down after sending two invitation out. Is this really kosher to do? I don't know, I would like to contact people about our little group here, but I feel it may not be the proper thing to do.

What do you all think? Am I just suffering from wimplash?

I'm just not a go-getter salesman type........
 
Seems to me if CF objects, they'll let you know and you can cease and desist. I'll put a link in my sig and see if it stays:)
 
Well I have my avatar plain as day with this site plastered across it and no one has yelped at me yet. I looked through the site rules and didn't see anything that said I couldn't do that. Also didn't see anything that explicitly said I couldn't post in the SouthEast section posting an invitation to this site.

But I don't want to press my luck and just appear to be unfriendly. I like CF and would hate to get booted off of it. :nonod:

Well, leave a link in your sig and see what happens. Worst case scenario you can think of a new name and sign up with a different email if they bump you off the CF.:rofl1:

So far no one has said anything to me. But I did check the rules beforehand and there wasn't anything there saying I couldn't do that. :shrug01:

Worst case they ask you to remove it and you do. No biggie.
 
Well when I get some time, maybe I'll just email a few people and invite them here. Hopefully I won't get too many people thinking I am one of those spammers sending junk mail we all get all too often.
 
Well I am trying to walk the line between finding people who may be interested in joining us here, and not pissing off those people of the other Corvette sites I like to visit myself. I really don't want to step on anyone's toes, but pay per click advertising is rather expensive and I just can't justify a lot of that for a free site. Plus it really isn't all that effective, as I have found out in the past.
 
Lol, what happened to the Rich that was perfectly happy posting and answering his own threads (thinking he would be the only one on this site). As far as CF, I think they would say something before just booting you off the site... I would hope at least.

Well I really wasn't HAPPY about myself being the only member here. That just appeared to be the way it was going to be for about a month. :ack2: Didn't seem to be much I could do about it, either.

I took some time last night and sent some invitations to a bunch of people. Kind of tedious, but hopefully it will get some more people interested in joining us here. I hope CF doesn't get pissed, but quite honestly, it's not like this site is going to be any competition for them. It's attractive to too small of a subset of their membership to have any influence on their traffic. Now if this site were CorvetteForum.info or something like that, well yeah, I could see they may have issues over that........

It would be nice if CF admins used a simple thing called logic but I can tell you from experience that is not the case.

If you are not breaking a listed rule then I would not worry about it. There is nothing wrong with trying to enlist members in a professional manner.

Well I have to confess that I got banned from z06vette once..... :nanana:
 
Some guy from Australia posted some pics of a twin turbo setup that I guess his shop was setting up. He got it deleted and slapped by one of the mods (MikesZ06?) for advertising from a non sponsor vendor. Well I was reading a lot about this stuff at the time, and it irked me. The guy obviously is not going to get a lot of business from a basically USA website, and that's what I said. I felt they were going quite a bit overboard "protecting" their sponsors to the detriment of valuable information that the members would most likely want to be provided. Next time I logged in, I was banned for two weeks. I haven't checked to see if my post was deleted. :rofl1:

I found your site today off of CF. Someone in one of the threads I was going through recommended it. I think it was in the Southeast regional section.

But I am surprised. This from the man that will put his hand in the mouth of a snake and is concerned about what CF will think? I think not!
