Is it "opinion" or "fact" whether a car dealer would offer more or less if they buy your car outright or they take it as a trade-in towards a car purchase?

Policy of company vehicles :buy 'em new buy 'em cheap and when we're done we get $300 at the crusher .
Personal vehicles : buy new ,semi nice and pass them down to other family members till we get $300 at the crusher .
Corvettes :Buy new but stay away from expensive models .Buy cheap ,drive 'em and then sell them for more than they are worth .:thumbsup:

Most dealers will balk if you bring up the proposition of a trade-in AFTER the negotiating is basically finished. Most will ask you up front about a trade-in to try to dodge that sucker punch. That is telling me that they really don't want you to know what the pittance is that they are actually and truly paying you for your trade-in.
If you are going to sell your car, sell it to anyone other than the dealer. They are there to make money, so your best interests are running a far second in that race.
