New member
Saw an 08 crytal red vert on ebay just what I wanted. It was at Salvador Chev in Gardner ,Mass.MSRP was $67,000 and my high bid was $36,100.

So I called yesterday and left a voicemail for Bruce the sales Mang. that I be there Sat am to pick it up.I asked to give me a call so I could wire some $$$$ .No call yesterday ,so I call today but no call back. What do ya think???:shrug01:

Do you have a link to the auction?

Hope that dealer isn't thinking about trying to pull a fast one on you....

I couldn't find an auction that ended recently for an 08 corvette that sold for 36,100. Please provide the link to your auction. Good luck.

Call'm up and tell'm what you will really give for that car,Steve!!
There is a good chance that you'll really own that car!!

There's allot of 07's and 08's left and Sales are off 40-60% from last year at this same time!! We dealers are getting purdy Hungry!! New car dealers are dropping like flies, and Used Corvette prices have dropped so far that I'm thinking I can get more $$$$ out of the ones I've got just by Parting them out!!:banghead::banghead:

PS.I just paid $589.00 for 100 gallons of Kerosene for heating my Shop and House, and and I'll need at least another 1000 gallons!! At this rate, you guys will have to put up with me and Vett Boy this winter!!:thumbsup:
:nanana::nanana::nanana::lmao:

:shrug01: Am I missing the joke, the ad clearly states "RESERVE NOT MET" and the buy it now price is $56K
No,Not really!! Other than, Steve's "Maximum" bid was Way Higher than that!! There just wasn't anybody willing to go as far as Steve!!:hehehe: Steve has called the Dealership 2-3 times trying to buy the car and hasn't been able to communicate with anybody with any Authority and "Nobody" will return his calls!!:thumbsup:

Best of luck! Unfortunately, my experience has shown that if something sounds too good to be true, it generally is.....:banghead:

EBAY

The person selling it also has a score of "0" on his ebay account.
So he has never sold anything before on ebay---scary when your first item you plan on selling is a $60,000 car !!!!

I am assunming you HAVE NOT paid yet, which is SMART !!!

But like the others said, when you bid on a car if the "RESERVE" price is not met ( reserve is the lowest they are willing to take 4 for it and they can set it up to where if that price is not met they dont have to sell it at all)
then they technically DO NOT have to sell it to anyone even the highest bidder.

People put reserve prices on their items sometimes just to see what it would go for and then decide later to maybe try reselling it for a lower price than what they originally were asking for it....

Thats the joy of EBAY...lol...

I hope it all works out for you, but it looks like you probably wont be getting that call back from them :(

Steve understands that, and is willing to give Way more then the action bid,He just wants to talk to someone besides a Crony!! He has the Cash,He don't want any Financing,He don't want Extended Warranty,He don't want the "Back Room Bend You Over BS"!!:thumbsup:

Just called them and talk to a lady name Erin Johnson said she would take

$59,700 out the door, she said" that was invoice price", the $56, 000 was for "employee pricing deal" and was no longer available. She was gonna check with her manager to see if she can go lower and email me.

that price iswith with you picking it up, and paying cash no financing.

Not trying to get in your business just thought I would see if I could get through to a human being :)

Personally, I would just forget about it and move on. They aren't offering any real "deal", and probably used the Ebay auction just for exposure. A lot of companies will do that. They will create an auction with an enticing opening bid, but the reserve being set to what they would normally sell it at retail for. In the case of a used and/or unusual item where determining the market value is difficult, a person will often post an auction on the item with an outrageously high reserve just so he or she can see how high people are willing to bid on it. You will see this all pretty often. Heck, I've seen auctions that were for items right out of the Harbor Freight catalog (pictures and all) with the BUY IT NOW price set HIGHER than what you could buy it direct from the catalog for.

Generally, when I buy anything on Ebay, I search for BUY IT NOW pricing first to see if I can find one at a reasonable price. If that fails, then I only look at *absolute* auctions without a reserve. Generally speaking, when I see a reserve on a new item, I assume that the reserve is set at retail price, and I can usually get that anywhere.
