iPhone used for in-car cam

I just got a new windshield mount for my iPhone 4. So far it looks like it's working pretty darn good. Just need to tighten up some interior panels...but it's not nearly as bad as the video makes it out to be.

if I can tighten everything down, this will be my new camcorder for my autocross events...

Video looks really good but I was disappointed. You didn't show the mount. :shrug01:

I have a bean bag dash mount for my EVO, and use the video feature occasionally when I think there may be an issue with something we're doing.

I'd like to see the windshield mount as well if you don't mind:thumbsup:

I also have a bean bag mount. I saw one in my buddies car and got two of them. The other one is for the GPS.

I got the mount from Amazon. I looked ALL over for one, and this BY FAR had the best reviews. I bought it because one of the reviews where buy a guy with a C5Z that used it for autocross and liked it.

When I get a sec, I'll take a pic of where I mounted it.

Thanks. Looks very similar to what I have on the bean bag which sits on the dash. In a autocross event I don't know how long it would stay on the dash though. :D Your video was really neat.

Yeah, the beanbag on the dash wouldn't be allowed at an autocross. I had to have something that mounted to the windshield or my crossbar. Going to try my crossbar tomorrow on the drive to work. :wavey:

I did the same thing.
One for the phone to keep it line of sight, and one for the GPS.
I generally don't like things hanging on the windshield, and the cords drive me nuts!

Since I rarely use my GPS anymore, now use the EVO/Spring Nav instead, I've removed one more piece of clutter from the dash.

Now, if I could just unclutter the rest of the car.....:lmao:

No it wouldn't.
Mine has been solid as a rock through most of my, shall we say, spirited manuevers:D, but the turns and braking in auto-x would definately send it flying....

not to mention it violates thier rules:thumbsup:

Here's a link to the camcorder mount I have in the blue C5Z that used to live here. http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3599

I have a crossbar similar to that, that came with a camera mount. My digital camcorder (el cheapo) finally gave out and my good one is a mini-DVD which skips during the rough maneuvers of autocross. The iPhone is a temp till I can get a gopro hero, hopefully this summer. Gotta get Evan's birth hospital bills paid off first.

Here's a decent vid from the old digital camcorder. It also had a vibration in the camera that drove me NUTS.

Yeah, here's one......

Good videos from both of ya. I love the sound of that car Rich. Just right for an occasional cruise.

Here's the latest test, with some left and right action as I'm pulling into work. Didn't get to really go fast, but the video seems to stay sharp through the turning...which is what I was hoping for.

This weekends chores: Secure the door panels better and figure out what else is rattling in the car. :banghead:

Nice sounding Vette also. Isn't this new technology amazing. Video from a phone.

Thanks! I'm VERY happy with the (fairly) new exhaust. Yeah, it's pretty crazy what you can do with a phone these days.

Update, looks like I fixed most of the rattles. I changed out the iphone adapter to the generic squeeze type adapter. Nearly no more rattles (except for my door panels still). In this video, the audio is so clear you can hear my keys clanking together. Now that's CRAZY. This will certainly work till I get my HD GoPro Hero...then I'll probably use BOTH. :dancer01:
