Latest Caravan Update!

Captain EZ

New member
Hello 2009 Caravaners!

There is an update currently being worked on that should be posted in the next day or two, on the Official NCM Caravan Web Site http://www.corvettecaravan.com/fl/

Please be aware, that from this point on, I will only be allowed to use the official NCM web site for all updates, as stated in my original agreement as Captain. (Well, I thought I could get away with it!!!)

I will continue to post notices of updates on this Florida Specific Forum, as long as the CorvetteFlorida.com folks continue to allow me this space! I ask that it be kept and used not only for announcements of updates, but for discussion/comments as well.

If any questions or comments are posted here, I will still be monitoring it, and will be happy to participate in any discussions concerning the Caravan.

Thanks to all who have been incredibly supportive in these early days of planning!

Ernie

Ok Ernie, we'll keep an eye out for the update. And, thanks for the unofficial update about the official update :D

Any news yet on what is going to be availble as far as rooms are concerned or should we start making reservations? Any help from past caravan veterans appreciated...

Haven't heard anything yet. Don't know if Ernie is working on that or not, yet. The places I've tried in BG are not taking reservations that far in advance :shrug01:

Linda: Check with the Super 8 Motel off exit 28 in BG. They were taking names when I stayed there last month and I am on waiting list. Someone has booked 20 rooms there. They will be contacing everyone once the rate is known. Hope this helps...

Thanks Armando. I'll keep it in mind.

Motels

I am contacting all motels in Bowling Green to find out when they will take reservations/blocks.

As soon as I get the info, I will let you know!

Ernie

Okay, here is what I have found out, so far.

Motels generally do not take any reservations earlier than 1 year in advance.
The Super 8 said they are taking "pre-reservations". If you contact them now, they will put you on a list and contact you when reservations become available.

I have not checked with all motels in BG, (there are lots of them!), but most will not do anything this far in advance.

As we get closer to event, I will provide a list of motels in the areas we will be staying at, and it will be up to the individual to make their own reservations. I will get rooms "blocked" where ever I can.

Ernie

Thank you for the update on this. The thought of 100's of vettes from the good ole USA and Canada converging on BG seems surreal to me. It'll definitely be a memorable weekend for all.:thumbsup:

As we get closer...

to the '09 caravan, will you, or someone, be posting some do's and dont's?

How 'bout a 'checklist' of recommended items to bring/travel with?

Has it been thought about that the Corvette with the least miles per gallon capability will be needing to stop more frequently for fuel? Does that mean the whole caravan stops as well? How are fuel stops determined? :shrug01:

How are lunches/meals dealt with?

I know these questions are a tad early to be asking, but I'm getting older and might not remember all these things to ask about later on! :lmao:

Check lists will be posted as time gets nearer.

Fuel, rest room, food stops are at the individuals desires. The caravan is not one endless line of Corvettes. Departures are spaced out to allow for comuters and truckers to go about their trips without causing huge delays. Unless you start at the very end of caravan, you can usually make your stop and get back into the caravan when you return to highway. Remember, if you are stopping, others in the caravan probably have the same needs, and you will be getting back on the road with them. You will not be left out!

Ernie, you mean to tell me with your pleasing personality you cannot get a restaurant to be ready at a specific time to take on 700-1000 people at one time. Gee, I might be losing my faith in you.

Uh, yeah! I have the reservations, but I dine alone, and I like a lot of elbow room!
(Now get back to work!)
