• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

You know there is 3 things in life that are necessary a good woman beer & vette not necessary in that order!!

Useless posts, useless threads and the rehashing of month, sometimes year old threads. . .

Maybe so, but at least the guy is TRYING to participate here.......

Not sure what happened to my original post but I'll post it again...:shrug01:

Cut the guy some slack will ya folks?

I'm sure most of us at one time or another have revived an old thread. I know I have.

From the times posted and some conversations we've had, I'd "guess" he's posting from work so there might be other things going on that require some of his attention.

Regardless, no harm, no foul:thumbsup:

Kind of enjoying seeing some of the old threads, seeing some Ive never seen before.
He makes it a little more interesting, waiting on the answer to the trivia , if we havent pissed him off.

hey if you don't like it don't read it going to be here for a while

I'm backing the new guy. There is no harm in someone resurrecting an old thread they want to discuss. Much of the topic matter in old threads is still valid today for discussion, and likely will still be valid tomorrow.

Nine times out of ten, when someone starts a new thread on many sites about something that has been discussed before, they get bashed with the admonition to use the search function to find an old thread about it.

So let's be civil and tolerant here, OK? The server this site is on has LOTS of bandwidth to spare, so this is absolutely not harming a thing.

Even though I just got back from a pig roast and I'm a little tanked ---I think I understand what your sayin' so i'll second it.:thumbsup:Give people a little slack and respect.By the way the pig tasted a lot like Germen shepard .

I dont have a problem with old threads being brought back up. Replying to a thread though, thats a year and a half old about a small flooding problem just to say its the law, that could be summed as spam/post wh... . Even in suicides thread. Im sure within the year+ thats passed something was straightened out. Like ynkedads flooding issue, or suicide kings life saving video. Ive never seen one person reply to their own post either.

The repetitive thread problem is common on bigger elitist nazi sites, with members whose egos are larger then their brain. Technical stuff changes every so often, so I can see a thread from last year being repeated about idk, a s/c setup, but the new thread could be about new/diff pulley change.

ya I can be a ball buster @ times not going to go down that road if you don't like it bite me

OK, that's enough of that kind of talk, please. If you start getting combative on me with the other folks around here, then you will give me TWO issues, instead of just one, that I have to content with.

That's enough!

One thing we don't do here, and will not be tolerated, regardless of the reason, is to threaten or become uncivilized, with other members, especially those who have been around and contributed. We all joke around, but that last comment was over the edge dude.

This is not some of the other (non-vette) sites where verbal assaults are the norm:NoNo:

If you want to be a "Goomba" there are other places for that:rolleyes:

As Rich stated, the band width isn't a problem.

My feeling is as long as the threads regardless of age, don't hurt anything, then who cares? I read a few at first not realizing what was happening, then just started ignoring them. On occasion, a few of the ressurected threads were actually fun to start up again.

I understand what some mean about the troll/spam/post whoring . I'm willing to give him/her the benefit of the doubt in this case though and assume otherwise.

The one thing I've always admired about this site, sometimes to it's fault, is the leiniency and tolerance we've always had with one another.

There have been times, when I felt that certain actions were called for. Rich saw otherwise, and nothing was done.

In hind site, on occasion I have to agree. Others not so much. Regardless, we've continued to thrive, add members and flourish as a site.:dancer01:

Unlike other places, we're small here and more like family. There will always be dissention even among families, and on occasion, even a family member can become a PITA:lmao:

When that occurs, you deal with the issue and move on.

That aside, There's no one here, and I mean NO ONE, that I wouldn't or couldn't put differences aside with and go to assist in short notice.

Other than MAJOR events, you just don't find that elsewhere.

The other thing is the proximity. We're all close enough logistically that we "could" get to one another if need be:thumbsup:

A few suggestions:

1) Lets cut the newbie some slack for now:thumbsup:
2) Try looking at the date on the posts you're responding to. I recently did a "new post" search and got threads that were old as well???:shrug01:

3) Try being less abrasive. No one here has anything to prove.

4) If it has a "NOSE" vs. a "SNOUT"...IT's a DOG (Don't eat it):lmao::lmao:

Later:wavey:

got your message yeh on the edge!!

I wasnt trying to be a dick to the guy, but yea, bringing up old threads with posts that have nothing important to contribute, posts that have no real value. . . Its kinda like "eh whatever."

Take the latest thread about "Mr Blues Fast and Sexy photo shoot." that post he made was pointless. The threads a year old. Heck I dont even know where the guys finding threads that old!

So what is the harm with a new member spending the time reading a bunch of old threads that are certainly new TO THEM, and feeling like they want to respond to them anyway?

What exactly is the harm in that? If it makes that person feel good about contributing something of their own, even to old threads, who exactly is being harmed by that?
