I finally sold my house, closing next Friday. Hopefullly purchasing a 2008 soon. Looking for opinions on the glass top and heat issues in a Florida car.
Does it really get hot in the car driving around, or should I stick with a non transparent top that comes stock? Thanks for any opinions regarding my first new Corvette purchase.

Congrats

I had a smoked top on my 2004. It gave an open feeling inside and the heat to go with it. I got a liner with a gazillion holes. The heat went way down but it still felt open.

When I got my 2008 I got both tops.

I have a 07 with the transparent top, and i dont see why people complain about the heat. I ride with my windows down all the time, and ive yet to experience a hot head. Maybe its just me, an i for one hate the heat.

my uncle wasnt a fan of the glass tops until he rode in mine. he fell in love with how awesome it was. when he went to go look at some z06 with his gf, even she was diggin the glass top. ladies love that kinda stuff lol.

Never had a vette that wasn't a rag top but I have a "moon roof" on my truck that I NEVER use (during the day) cause of the H E A T!!:banghead:

I've had both on my vette.

The heat buildup is an issue while the vehicle is sitting outside. When you get in, crack the windows a tad and turn on the AC and in no time...you're good to go:thumbsup:

As far as it being hot inside while riding around...yes, it can be. makes your AC work that much harder as well.

The upside?

Nighttime, clear skies....:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Rainy days are kinda cool with the transparent top as well:thumbsup:

If your selling your house to buy I car I would get something bigger then a vette. It's going to be hard to sleep in there with all of your stuff.:shrug01:

If your not sure what top to get I would get the non-glass top so the paint matches your car. You can always buy a glass top at a later date. Having both tops is nice.

I love my transparent top...... this time of year. That sun beating down on my bald head in July-September is just too much for me though.:shrug01:
