New Drivers License

mickeystoysz16

I have stripes
I went to have my DL renewed today and after a 45 min round trip to get 50 pieces of ID for the new Real ID compliance I have a gold star :dancer01:

But when the lady at the counter handed me my new licence it had my physical address and not my PO Box like my old licence. Does anyone know if the new law prohibits PO Boxes as the address that shows on the front of the license.

It seems as if private citizen are losing more privacy and security and the govt is getting too involved in peoples personal lives by the day. I almost told the lady to kept it but there was a state trooper haningin out right next to me and I did not want him to follow me a se me get in my vehicle and leave the parking lot without a license. But now I am really pissed

I've always had my physical address on my license. I've never given it any thought but I do agree with you that we are losing our privacy and it's going to keep getting worse regardless of who's in office. Once an agency can show what they believe is a legitimate need to know they'll get their info.

You can thank all the people that bought into the whole "homeland security" thing:thumbsdown:

We're little more "secure" now, than we were then, yet more and more of your liberties and freedoms (not necessarily "rights") are being eroded.

The "bad guys" don't play by the rules, which is something we can't seem to get through to our "leaders."
When you do, you become more and more vulnerable.

And every time government wants to do something stupid, or has an "idea" (you gotta watch it when the government starts thinking!") that may not sit well with the masses, they lay out the "Homeland Security" blanket, and those insecure types with weak knees get down and crawl underneath.:nonod:

It's only going to get worse my friend.

I'll check into the changes and get back to you if someone else doesn't chime in first.

King Obama needs to know where to find all his subjects - oops, I mean citizens when the socialist take over gets fully under way.

I agree Shadow. Our civil liberties are being lost in the name of "WE KNOW BETTER MENTALITY"...Our country today is full of "SHEEPLE", that believe all the Bull Sh*t our leaders tell us...

This actually started under the Bush administration.
As little thing called the Patriot Act.
The early Patriots would probably be pissed if they knew this POS legislation was coined after their name:mad:

King O is just figuring out how to use it to his advantage:nonod:

I don't believe anything that comes out of thier mouths anymore.
The old addage, "if thier lips are moving, they're lying" rings more true by the day.

One day, people may wake up and realize what a sham this whole "homeland security" debacle is. Unfortunately, it may be too late:nonod:

This is why I am po about the most. Is that I did not have a choice. Does it make a lot of difference? Maybe not, but the idea that I used to have a little more privacy and security has been taken away from me.

I am not against all the lawful purposes that this acomplishes. I just don't want to think of how this can be used against me for illegal purposes which is why I have a PO Box. I use it mainly to prevent ID theft and if anyone here has ever had a rental and had to evict someone you would khow why I don't want to be found using license, registration, homeownership, etc.....

But sadly now I have lost that one extra layer of protection because my elected official know whats best for me.

I've got some real bad news for ya Mickey. If that's your concern you are probably screwed anyway. If I have just your name and county you live in I or anyone else can pull up all kinds of info on you. One item leads to another.

If you're po'd now you would go ballistic if you knew what I was talking about. Then again, maybe you already know this and the license is just another thorn. :shrug01: Feel free to PM if you want.
