New guy from Melbourne

Hi, just joined today. I live in Melbourne, and have a 2001 triple black convertible that I brought brand new right before 911. I usually do my own car work (also have a 67 camaro that I am rebuilding), but I have a funny noise from underneath that I can't figure out. Anybody know how I can find a good corvette mechanic in Melbourne.

Don't know anyone in Melbourne but i'm sure someone here (maybe NASAJack) will:thumbsup:

meanwhile, welcome to the forum:wavey:, glad you found us. Post up some pictures of those rides. I had a 69 Camaro when I was dating. Loved that car:dancer01:

Sure beats the new abortion they've got coming out:(

Have a happy and safe new year!!!

Gordon

:welcome::welcome::welcome: to the Forum. Nasajack and SteveK are in your general area I think. Send them a pm or e-mail and see if they know someone. Good luck.

I'll be in the Titusville and Melbourne area next week, just not sure what day yet? Either wednesday, thursday or Friday.

I'll be happy to drop by and see if I can help. IV got and 87 so I'm pretty familiar with the squeaks and rattles:rofl1:

More on C5 Noise

Thanks for all the "welcomes to the site", I appreciate it. As I said, I have a C5, and it is definitely not a squeak or rattle. I hear it usually when I first pull out, in first or second gear, and going straight. It sounds like two metal rods clacking against each other, or like a metal rod bouncing off the concrete. Pushing in the clutch doesn't effect it. I have jacked up the car front and back and can't find anything loose. I have checked the sway bar in back and it was tight. I have searched on the corvette forum and haven't found any description that sounds like it. I sent an email on it to the Vette Doctor in Melbourne ( I have no experience with them or any other mechanic...I do my own maintenance). Again, thanks for any advice. BTW, should I be posting this somewhere else on this site besides the welcome area?

:welcome: I read recently about someone who had a similar noise and it was something about the torque tube. That is all I can recall. Good luck.

Yaa.I believe something making that kinda noise

I'd be checking that torque tube as well.
Just had a 2003 Z06 that the torque tube was missing some hardware (bolts)
and was a bit of a job to fix but got it done.
Surely the vette doctor will know if it's the tube in a jiffy. (you must have wheel hop for sure)
