out of state buying

Looking for experiences on out of state buying for new Corvettes. EVS and Kerbeck have some good deals, just looking for procedures and what problems of expect if any. I know Museum pick up is a possibility along with Courtesy Delivery, but wondering if the savings is worth the time and effort.
Thanks for the info.

Yeah, I did this with the '07 C6. Got it from MacMulkin in NH. Shipping was around $900, if I remember correctly. You are basically at the mercy of the driver delivering the car, because he is going to try to fill the carrier up as much as possible, which means there will be any number of stops along the way. Cars CAN get damaged on the carrier. You won't know if you have a careful driver until after the fact. There was a slight ding on the rear bumper that looks like the nose of another car may have contacted it in the carrier, but 2 minutes with a buffer and it was gone.

You will have to deal with a sales tax issue, regardless of where it was purchased. Even though New Hampshire doesn't have a state sales tax, I still had to pay a Florida sales tax when I registered the car here. Not sure how this is legal, but don't think I would save any money by getting an attorney to fight it. There may be ways around this, so check into it.

Bear in mind that with a new car, they recommend that for break-in purposes that you keep the car under 55 miles per hour for the first 500 miles. This would probably be a real drag driving your car home on the interstate if you decide to fly up to the seller and drive it on back home.

Of course, if you buy your car in the winter months, flying north into New Jersey or New Hampshire and then driving back home (potentially in winter type weather) probably wouldn't be all that much fun anyway.

Hope this helps a little.

I bought my 2004 new from Maxie Price in Ga. Did it all online and phone an fax. Then got on a plane, flew up and drove it home. I paid them the florida sales tax, they took care of the paperwork. Couldn't believe how easy it was

My wife and I just did this last December and drove our 07 vert from the NCM over the Christmas holidays. I ordered my vette from Rick Daniels of Les Stanford Chevrolet in Dearborn, Michigan. I got the best deal and saved 7000.00+ off the sticker. The drive back to Florida was wondeful even with the break in period of 500 miles. I still took it up to 65-70 mph every now and then and it ran great with 26-27 mpg.
You will need to pay tax on the vette when you register the car. But at least you're not paying interest on the tax with your monthly payments if you finance it.
You'll have some forms to sign via FedX and a couple of phone calls. It was a no brainer and I'd do it over this way in a heartbeat. In fact, my wife and I plan to return for another NCM delivery when the C7 arrives in a few years. I hope this helps. If you have more questions or concerns, feel free to send me a pm.

You won't get out of Florida sales tax if you want to register it here. Cost me a few thou to get my '61 registered after buying it in South Carolina - sucks but there it is...

I bought my 2006 from Dave Salvatore at Kerbeck's in NJ. Great experience and he took my GMID when all the mid-Florida dealers wouldn't.

It got totaled last month and I bought my 2008 at Bill Buck in Venice. They took my GMS and all went well and saved me a flight to Atlantic City (Kerbeck Chevrolet).

I ordered mine (08 coupe) from Rick Conti (EVS) around Sept 10. I should be picking the car up at the NCM around the end of Oct. early Nov. So far so good. He saved me more than enough to make it worth the trip. He gave me the best deal, even better than the other forum dealers, but I did have to haggle. I played all the forum dealers against one another and got probably a better deal than most. It pays to negotiate.:yesnod:
