Any one going to the Pirate Fest on the 27th of Jan? We are interested, just not sure where to stay or what to expect.
 
Some advise!!!

First thing to do is visit the Gasparilla Site:

As a member of the Krewe of Venus for the last 15 years and in the parade you can expect 400,000 people at a minimum. The web site I gave you gives all the information on times, maps etc. You also can go to the Gasparilla Breakfast and watch the boats come in....also on that website with phone numbers.

If you want to be in the middle of it all stay at the Hyatt downtown Tampa or the Radison on Harbor Island, New Marriott Waterside is also a good place to stay. Make reservations today!!!:thumbsup:

Lets see...marched in it 5 years straight in Jr. High and HS (band), worked it as a Deputy Sheriff (crowd Control) and rode motors in it (as a Deputy).

Between the ignorant drunks, the obnoxious people, lack of facilities and the rediculous crowds, I think I'll pass:thumbsdown:

If you on a float, or a Rough Rider, or on one of the boats, it's not too bad. As a spectator, it sucks!

Then there's the dodge 'em car ride to gt out of there...:rofl1:

Please don't let me and some of the others scare you away. Other than leaving the vettes at home, it's definately a thing to do ONCE in a lifetime. Unless you like that sort of atmosphere?

If you've never been there, you might want to consider it. Just be prepared:thumbsup:

I SUGGESTED LEAVING THE TOYS AT HOME IF YOUR NOT IN ONE OF THE HOTELS I MENTIONED. IF YOU DO A QUALITY HOTEL THE CARS ARE SAFE.
I JUST DON'T WANT YOU TO TAKE A CHANCE OF ANY HARM IF THEY ARE PARKED OUTSIDE. ASK THE HOTEL DIRECTLY ABOUT PARKING FACILITES. YOU SHOULD GO AT LEAST ONCE!!!!:thumbsup:

I don't get along too well with those I HAVE to tolerate, especially the Drunk ones.:shrug01:

Thats my problem as well...I don't mind if a friend pukes on my shoe, but a total stranger!!!:lmao:
