Anyone see the videos of the stolen Vette being chased in Tampa and dragging a police officer for a couple of blocks? I would say that is one lucky officer. The Vette ended up crashing... is anyone missing one?

Click on view at far right. Not gonna see much. Was taken at altitude with TPD's FLIR/video. Just night vision stuff, some sparks and the heat source of the officer as he rolls off the car.

He was very lucky in so many respects. He has apparently suffered only minor injuries, and there was absolutely NO cross traffic on an otherwise busy street. Also the chopper observer states he (vehicle driver) just signal 3
'd another vehicle. This Mo@&)$Yck@* was sideswiping cars trying to brush him off!!!!

*NOTE* there's a brief outburst of obscenity from the observer as the officer rolls off...so if your at work or have sensitive ears (or kids) be forewarned:NoNo:

TAMPA -- Police have charged a North Carolina man in connection with a pursuit late Sunday that started with an officer being dragged and the chased vehicle catching fire.
Legrand Pratt Jr., 43, of Charlotte, N.C., is being held without bail at Orient Road Jail this morning. He is charged with felony attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, felony aggravated fleeing to elude, felony grand theft auto and misdemeanor driving without a valid license, among other charges.
The 1994 Chevrolet Corvette he had been driving was reported stolen in South Carolina, Tampa police said. In addition, Pratt was wanted on a warrant from that state, police said.
Tampa Police Department Officer Kiet Troung spoke to Pratt shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday near Beach Street and Rome Avenue while investigating a call about a suspicious vehicle.
According to a preliminary report, Truong was standing at the driver's door of the Corvette as Pratt sat in the driver's seat with the engine off and keys in hand.
As another officer checked Pratt's name and vehicle information, Pratt reached toward the ignition, police said. Truong struggled with the man to prevent him from starting the car, but Pratt turned the ignition key and drove off with Truong hanging on, police said.
Pratt drove at high speed, dragging the officer four or five blocks before Truong fell away, police said.
More units then joined the pursuit, which lasted at least four miles, police said.
The Corvette crashed into a telephone pole at Himes Avenue and West Braddock Street after another officer used an "immobilization technique" with his patrol car, police said. After the crash, the Corvette caught fire.
Troung had minor scrapes on his legs and arms, police said.
A police spokeswoman said the officer was recovering at home this morning.

Too bad they didn't end this scumbags career!
