Republicans Are Back...YEAH?

als2052

Road Trip!
I hope they are aware that they now have 2 years to bring back the country to the near nirvana state that it was in before Obama took power...Its only fair...they only gave him 2 years to fix 8 years of screw ups...

The country was far from nirvana under the previous administration.
It's even less so under the current regime.

This shift was necessary to balance out the 2 groups.
Frankly, it's the lesser of 2 evils.

I'd much rather see a non-partisan system of government, where people and politicians didn't follow some fantasy formulated party policy.

Regardless of my "party", I've always voted my conscience and beliefes. Same happened this time.

We now have another chance for change...

Let's see what they do with it?:thumbsup:

To me it is a bitter sweet dilemna. The controlling party takes credit for the good and blames the other for the bad. Not much accomplishment can be done with that mentality. Any rapid progress is going to require cooperation by both parties and let the voters decide who gets the credit.
With the Republicans controlling the House, and the Senate with a narrow majority in the Senate, Obama has essentially become a lame duck President.
I don't see any rapid progress with our economy even with the shift to the Right.
I do see a future of bickering and stone walling in Congress. Oh I forgot, that's business as usual in D.C.!!!! :shrug01::shrug01::eek::eek:

I was being sarcastic regarding the nirvana thing...its just they made it sound like things were going so well when they had the reins which we know was not the case...Lets just hope they can work together and get us out of the mess we are currently in for our grandkids sake....

Thats All I care about!! :D

My feeling is that id doesn't matter WHO gets elected, it'll be business as usual,
and as usual........WE'LL be the ones getting the business!
Andy :wavey:
and it's post number 1000 my friends! WOO-HOO!

Heck, I voted "NPA" across the board. I was really only interested in voting for one of our commissioners yesterday. Matter of fact, Connie was out on 319 waving a sign for him while I kept her company. I just do not believe the party system is good for this country. It produces a conflict of interest. The PEOPLE we vote into office are often placed in the dilemma of either dancing to the tune of their party, or doing what is best for their constituents. Since the money that backs their re-election efforts comes from the party coffers, they will normally dance the tune the party plays. Let's face it big money paying for media blitz advertising will nearly always put a bad candidate in office over a good candidate that doesn't have that kind of financial backing.

So if we want TRULY representative government we need to force our representatives to be solely answerable to the voters.

As for what changes will take place now that the republicans have gotten some power back, well NOTHING will change. Remember the "contract with America" in 1994 from the Republican party they promised in their campaigning? There should be a Constitutional amendment stating that any representative that fails to fulfill any promise made to the public in order to get voted into office should be held accountable for breach of contract. With criminal penalties attached.

The two parties have been playing "good party/bad party" for decades now, playing us for patsies. It's time to end this charade and put PEOPLE in office, not PARTIES.

Huh, I never heard that the prior admin had it going well, but there is no doubt taking us into a socialist society where much of the constitution is trampled on '& spending money we dont have and just destroying our health care & small businesses over the past 2 years was definately the wrong direction. I have high hopes that the new group will have their feet held to the fire to get us on track to what we once were.

It will be interesting to see Pres Busch's interview next week...BTW, TARP started under his watch and continued with present administration...Looks like eventually most of the this money will be returned with interest...Lets hope we get it all back...Now its time for both camps to quit the BS and get down to business...

I doubt that will happen until tar and feathering becomes a legal remedy for the general public to deal with government officials who engage in dereliction of duty, malfeasance, and outright theft from the public.

Tar and feathering comes at the behest of the media outlets. I need a break from all these years of "Change". It's time we put people in office that won't do $#!+. Run on the platform of "No New Changes". All these great ideas are costing us trillions.

Heck yeah. The biggest damn mistake was by letting them be in session PERMANENTLY. They've got nothing better to do than to dream up new ways to extract money from our wallets. They make these thousand+ paged bills that NONE of them ever even read and they vote on them anyway. Make a bill a SINGLE focus item only with a maximum of 10 double spaced pages. The process of making a bill into law SHOULD be difficult and time consuming. Our representatives SHOULD deliberate and fully understand what the hell they are voting for. Otherwise, why not just give each of them a quarter and have them flip them into a ring at the center of the floor in Congress and have someone count the number of heads and the number of tails to pass or reject the bill? That is pretty much what is happening now anyway.
