I got a call from a long time friend about a recent break-in into his garage, it seems that some thieves used a pry bar to force open his side garage door while he was out doing some shopping and walked off with his tool box and floor jack, and several other items in his garage, that will cost him several thousand dollars to replace
the sad part is that Ive told him several dozen times that he needed better doors, locks and an alarm, on the garage. and he has an alarm on his house.
look gentlemen, most of us have at least several thousand dollars in garage contents, so it makes sense to at least take minimal precautions.
yes it was probably neighborhood kids or someone he knows that knew where the tools were , but his chances of getting back everything he lost is obviously very low, and the aggravation is huge.
a loud alarm and an auto dial link that dials police would have helped surveillance cameras would be great, but simply having a solid metal door and door frame and decent locks and a fenced yard with obvious alarm stickers and other security might have prevented this.
