Some pics of the eclipse

Here are a few shots I took of the eclipse. I missed the first part during dinner but got it as it was coming out. Then I took one of an airplane as it was coming in to land.

Heck, a couple of nights ago, the wife and I were looking at the moon and commented that it just didn't "look" right. I didn't realize that a lunar eclipse was taking place.

Moon shots are pretty difficult to get properly. Exposure is a problem. You need to severely underexpose the shot or the moon gets whited out. Spot exposure does help somewhat, but still, it's a tough shot to throw at most cameras. Best bet is to control exposure manually and just take shot after shot with various exposures until you get THE ONE. Tripod, of course, is a necessity.

If you can get magnification to where the moon nearly fills the frame, exposure will be a LOT easier to accomplish.

I've got a 1000mm Nikon reflex lens around here somewhere. Don't know if I have ever tried it on my digital Fuji body, though. I should drag it out and try now that the moon is full....

Didn't even know...

I totally missed out on the eclipse!:banghead: Well, until this thread.

I didn't think I'd be able to get any pictures at all. I know they're not the proper exposure but I still thought it was neat! :shrug01: I took these just with my Panasonic digital 5mp 12 x zoom camera.

Linda,

I think they are pretty impressive with your digital especially if you took them holding the camera!

Great pictures.
I have tried a couple of times to take pictures of the moon and all I get are white spots. :shrug01:
