Static supression

In the "modernization" of my 72 I replaced the gauge bezel with an available custom bezel containing a Pioneer CD player. All else has been left as manufactured but a man's gotta have some "Buffet" to listen to ya known what I'm sayin?

The former bezel had some piece of poop and it had to go anyway.

Now the BB under the hood does not have braided plug wires (although I have a set due in tomorrow) so I'm wondering if the braided plug wires will eliminate the static from the radio/CD player or if other measures are necessary?

Ken,

That was the purpose of the braided wires on the big blocks. The braiding grounds to your valve cover bolts, just in case you were not sure. I have tried to keep my '69 as stock looking as possible, but I had to ditch (actually they are in a box) the braided wires because I installed an MSD box and they are not compatible.

To be honest, I did not notice much of a difference with my radio, but it is the original AM/FM Monoral radio with just a speaker in each front kick panels. Sounds pretty crappy anyway. Besides, with the top down, the Comp Cam 270 Magnum camshaft, I would rather listen to the engine.

Just my opinion.
