what kind of rubber are u putting to the ground on your c5 z06? i've burnt up another pair of eagle f1 sc and im looking for alternatives

Been running with Michelins, which I like a lot. Not that I'm sending them up in smoke every chance I get, but they do seem to hold the road for me and fair pretty well on wet roads.

KEEP THE ALL AMERICAN CAR ALL AMERICAN ,THE TOYO,YOKO THOSE ARE FOR THE IMPORTS :banghead::banghead: HAVE NOT SEEN A FERRARI OR LANBO WITH YOKO OR TOYO OR ANY MOJO YET. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm Running Stones onmy 01 Z06!! FireStone Wide Oval's:crazy03:I Like'm,Good overall Ride,Traction Wet or Dry and I've not burned them off yet!!

Yokahamas on the front, Turbo Actions (:shrug01:) on the rear. The Turbo Actions don't stick very well, at least not on acceleration, but the Yokahamas seem pretty good.

I've got two sets, BF Goodrich KDW2's on my original Z06 wheels and Firestone Wide Ovals on my Motorsports.

BFG KDW2 very impressed they stick even with 400 rwhp. The stocks are crap mostly anything is going to be an upgrade to those things. Thanks mike

This has been an interesting thread, even though I hoped for more responses. My '04 Z06 CE only has 7200 miles and still has the stock BY F1 SC tires on it. But, I have been having problems with my right rear. In the last six months, I have pulled two nails out of that tire and plugged them. Because of the low mileage I was looking to replace the one tire with a new one. But checking with Tire Rack and Discount Tire, these tires are on back order and currently not available.

I had replaced the runcraps on my '01 vert with the GY GS D3s and love the tire. I was going to replace the Supercar tires with the D3s, but they also are on back order. Not sure what GY's production problem is with their performance tires, but it looks like I may have to go in a different direction. I picked up a used SC tire to take care of my immediate problem, but currently I am thinking I will not go back to GY.

Scott, you mentioned that you had the KDW2s and the Firestones. Can you tell us which ones you like better?

Thanks
Rich

I just put a set of TOYO PROXES TR1 on my 2003 Z06 and did AutoCross this weekend and was very impressed on how well they held in extreme driving conditions. Have not driven them yet in Wet conditions.

:hehehe: JIM :hehehe:

thats what we put on Yellows car.....good tires...

I have the KDW's and I love em...much better than the Michelin Pilots...hard to smoke em even with 460/490 at the wheels unlike the Pilots

you must not have any Mods or havent rode in a car with NON RFTs or you would be singing a different tune :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

i had michelin pilots before , replaced them with Goodyear eagle F1 GS D3 after i saw the user reviews over at tirerack.com ...the difference is like nite and day+ GS d3 s have lot more treadwear than the others..FYI

Rich, about the only comparison I can make so far is the KDW2's have terrible road noise, IMO. The Firestones are fairly new and since my driving habits have changed a bit, I haven't put them to "the test" yet. I don't notice any road noise with the Firestones, well nothing more than normal anyway.

My KDW2's have low mileage on them and my right rear was giving me trouble picking up all kinds of crap. I never got around to replacing it.

Scott

Thanks Scott!

Well if the KDWs are noisy then that would eliminate them. One of the reasons I replaced the runcraps on the '01 vert with the GS D3s was the road noise. I also find it interesting that you also have had issues with picking up crap in the right rear. What is it with the right rear tires on the Z06s and road garbage?

Anyway, thanks for the response. That information will at least pull the KDWs off the table for me.

Rich

That's kind of interesting. I also got a screw through the tread on my right rear tire not long after I got my new tires. :shrug01:

It is interesting. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I have pulled two objects (nails, screws, etc.) out of the right rear of my Z16. I have plugs in them, but one of them is not holding. I was going to pick up a new Supercar tire but GY has them on backorder. I just picked up a used one that will take care of the immediate problem, but I think I am going to replace these tires so I was really curious about this thread.
