Trans Will Not Shift Into 3rd. or O/D

92 Corvette LT1 Coupe
Hello Folks,
My 92 LT1 has 150,000 miles on it. When I got the car it needed a lot of TLC. I now have the motor and ECM working properly. The transmission fluid was the dirtiest of any fluid I have ever changed. I replaced the filter, replaced the stock pan with an after market pan with a drain. I was able to capture 3.5 to 4 qts. of fluid. There were no metal or brass parts or shavings in the pan. I plan to keep draining and adding fluid until all I get is clean fluid. That having been said, the transmission shifts from neutral to 1st, 2nd, and reverse just fine. No hard shifting at all. But the car will not shift into 3rd. or O/D. I have tried to manually shift it, no effect. Yesterday, I drove the car. I got the car up to 71 MPH and 3K RPM, but still would'nt shift up. I am not a transmission expert, period. Is there anything I can check externally on the transmission? What could be causing this? I am so ready to get my car on the road! Once this problem is resolved, I should be good to go. Please help this old man get her on the road. Thank you. God Bless. Zayde

There is a cable on the right side of the trans going to the ASR!!If that cable is a notch or two tight,It can cause the same problem!!
Also,is the trans pan that you replaced the stock one deeper or shallower than the the stock pan? I've seen instances where the pan was shallower and restricted fluid flow, and I've also seen the filter fall off in the pan and not be able to supply enough fluid for higher gears!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The transmission problem is unchanged from the time I got the car. The new pan is a standard size, but with a drain. Would the button (traction control), on the dash, have anything to do with my problem? I haven't tried the button as of yet. BTW, I picked up a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix. I have not added it yet. I have read mixed reports on it's use, any thoughts? Thanks for the replys.
