C4 transmission problems !!!

I am a new member and am not sure if anyone can help me but.....I have an 85 corvette that I am having problems with the automatic transmission. When you put it into drive it hesitates to take off for a few seconds. It seems that, when it shifts from first to second, it acts like a manual transmission by the way it hesitates to go into gear. Also when I put it in reverse it won't move. This problem started when I changed the fluid and filter. Does anyone have any suggestions ??? :banghead:

Sure sounds like low fluid.....check with engine running, and you have to look close to see since it may look full when it isn't.

someone else suggested to me about checking for a ball bearing that might have fallen out from the filter area, when I changed the fluid. Does anyone have any idea about this suggestion ???

What,they been working on 58 Edsel's with Cast Iron Cruzo Slosh-O-Matic???:rofl1: No,Shouldn't be any steel ball's to worry about changing fluid and filter!!:thumbsup: Now,If they took the valve body apart,There could be a problem!:banghead::banghead:

I didnt remove the valve body or anything else except the filter. Thanks

I pylled the pan off again and pulled the filter out and there was the old gasket still in the hole. I bought another a new filter and gasket and reassembled it. Battery dead have to chanre it tonight. Will try tranny tomorrow.

Not removing the old filter seal can certainly let it suck air and cause the problem your having!!:banghead: Kick me in the arse,:thumbsup: I sent a employee packing over that seal a couple years ago and should have remembered!!!!:banghead::banghead: It wasn't so much over the seal as it was that (he was on Thin Ice anyway) he lied to me and said that he distinctly remembered removing the old seal,but couldn't find it in the drain pan!! So I got under there to check things out and found 3 bolts twisted off in the pan with the heads RTV'd in place so it looked like they were there,I went "Super Sonic Ballistic"!!:brick2::brick2:
