C4 Tune -up

Was just wondering if anyone could tell me about the cost of a complete tune-up? I have been told $400-$500 is this about right I know everything with a vette is more expensive but dang it sounds kinda high. One guy at Firestone told me 500 and a good friend that is a mechanic told me around 400 I trust him he is along time friend but just wondering if anyone could give me a 3rd opinion. Any input would be great!
Thanks!!

What year C4? LT1/4 or L98? The LT1 plugs are difficult and time consuming to change. The optispark cover I believe is a bit pricey too. I'd recommend some nice 8+mm wires like MSD or the like. The plugs are the most friendly to remove either. The two closest to the fire wall I hear are a real pain. I let John over at autoXTC take care of that for me.

Tune-Up

Thanks for helping me out 3 websites and your the only help I have gotten!
It is a 95 LT1 is 450-500 sound right?? Just asking what you think.
Tell me the place where you take yours and there # ok.
Thanks and have a great weekend.

It really depends on what you are getting for your money. When I worked at a dealer many of the "mechanics" were ripping off customers on "tune ups". Often they would install a new set of plugs in it and call it done. Others would replace the wires, pcv valve, adjust idle, check vacumn canister, etc. Plus you have to wonder about the replacement parts. I know of an instance when a customer was sold a geniune "GM" plug wire set for $135.00 and actually got a parts store $35.00 set instead. There are many people out there with no scruples. A friend of mine owned a Mercedes. He told me he didn't have a problem with the dealer charging him $4000.00 for the tune up, but when he went behind them and found service items that were never performed....

Thanks

I just want the regular tune-up I must admit and its horriable I have had it almost 4 yrs and never had a tune-up done I have a friend who has worked on muscle cars since we where 16 thats almost 25yrs now so I trust him he said it would be around $400 but he doesn't really want to mess with it because he says its a pain and he really doesnt have the time. A guy at firestone said $500 not much differance if you think of labor that firestone will charge... now that I have rambled on I was just wondering if that sounds about right for your basic tune-up give or take a few dollars. I know vetts are more expensive for anything you have done. Any help would be great! Thanks and have a great weekend!

I hear you about the plugs.. . . I did the two or one on the front right (pass) side and when I looked at the rest i said f it. . . idk if its worth 500 bucks to do the plugs, but def gonna cost a bit. . .

but when you think aboutit, what are shop charges nowadays? 60, 70, 80+ dollars an hour? plus parts. .
